Of course, everyone knew, but Kai was different. They were the owner of the only newspaper in the province that wasn't owned by the government, the Wallad Print. Their news was the closest you could get in the country to purely objective statements. While the government newspapers skimmed over details about Erika, Kai took a closer look at the story. Kai had figured out a few things about the incident. They knew that Erika had disappeared after 3 months at sea. They knew that it had taken place outside of her apartment complex. Most importantly, however, was that she had been doing government work. The truth was, Kai had known Erika before she started working with the government. They had met in their early 20s and even worked together. Erika had done a section on biology in the Wallad Print before an opportunity came up to do research in the waters surrounding the country. Kai wanted to go back to that time before everything seemed to be about research, but today was not the day to think about that. They picked up their bag and left.
