This is a rant, a rant about how the new movie Jurassic World Dominion, destroyed the character of Dr. Alan Grant. This contains spoilers for the Jurassic series so if you haven't seen the Parks or World I suggest you click off. In Jurassic World Dominion he is portrayed as a dry, sad, and confused old man, that was only really there for nostalgic bait, he has barely any lines, and when he does say something it doesn't drive the plot at all it just makes him look confused on why he is there. Sam Neil looks so embarrassed to be there, and I feel bad for the guy. In the first Jurassic Park Grant is shown to be a strong-headed, smart, stubborn, yet kind man, he is thrown into a horrible predicament with two of the worst things on earth...ChILdrEn. He has to learn to take care of them while they are being attack by many different dinosaurs, and him by being a paleontologist, knows a good amount about them just enough to get by without losing his life in the first few hours. He is essential to the plot, has a huge character development, and is just a fun and interesting character to watch and root on. After the events of Jurassic Park, he tries to go back to his regular life you know, digging up bones and and explaining his findings to peers, but the past still haunts him, many of the people try to ask why he is still digging up bones when there are real dinosaurs on the island that he can study. He tries to explain that those were Genetically engineered monsters, but know one listened. This point is extremally important in the film, and for future films including Jurassic world Dominion, and in the first scene where he is introduced, guess what he is doing??? Digging up dinosaur bones, completely demolishing that conflict, and with biosyn creating more REALISTIC dinosaurs, Grant is completely out of the job, but the movie does not acknowledge this at all they just don't. They might as well have a dummy play Alan grant because he has absolutely no reason to be there. Alright im done for now I might do another one but probably not lol
