Ocean Stone and her brothers, Rupert, Collin, Davis, and Eliot, were running like mad from Old Jake Farmer's house. The crazy old man was chasing them on his slow horse, Johnny. The five Stone children has just knocked on his door and ran, a dare from Collin's friend, Sams. Old Jake was a mad man, living alone in an old cottage with a shabby dog also named Johnny. Everything he owned that was alive, he names Johnny. The children of Myturtown were quite afraid of him ever since he beat Patrick Peters in the street. All except the five Stone children. They were the most fearless children of all. Old Jake cracked his whip and hollered insults and cursed at them, but it just made the act all the more exciting. Rupert was in the lead, being the eldest and having the longest legs. Then behind was Eliot, then Collins, then Ocean, then Davis. Davis was slowest of the bunch, he much preferred cooking and 'lady-hobbies,' as his friends would say it, though he never admitted it to anyone but his siblings. The five were impossible to separate, and very best of friends. Rupert and the four following all came in view of the town, were almost all the children were watching the fascinating chase. Collins started whooping and leaping, boosting himself in celebration, while Old Jake howled and cracked his whip, urging poor horse-Johnny to go even faster. The three children approached the village, where a bunch of kids were cheering them on. Old Jake saw them all and grunted before stopping the case and turning back home.
