They want her to be safe and happy, but sometimes they're worried that they can't do enough for that. Even though they don't like fighting, they would do it to protect her, but they're reluctant to hurt others when she's around. They understand that sometimes they'd need to fight to keep her safe, but they don't want to fight anyone at all, let alone in front of Lydia. Sometimes, they're afraid that they're dragging her down with all of their problems. They really appreciate how much she's done to help them, but they're often hesitant to talk to her about their struggles because they don't want to trouble her. In Azure's eyes, Lydia is the kindest, purest person they've ever known. There's nobody quite like her, and they want her to get the love and protection that she deserves. They know that they can be too anxious, clingy, paranoid, and withdrawn at times, and they know that they can't do much to protect Lydia, but they want to improve for her. They want to get better so they can keep her out of harm's way and make her smile. But the virus that affects her (the occasional edgy Lydia) really scares them. It feels like something completely different from the Lydia they know and love, and this puts them at unrest, like something is very, very wrong and they're powerless against it. This helplessness seems to reawaken how they felt in the moment that they lost Spider, leading them to panic, and they just want to run and escape and pretend it didn't happen and that things are okay. Even when it isn't nearly that bad, it feels that way to them because they have no control over it and it makes them feel vulnerable. Concerns aside, though, all of the good moments make everything worth it.
