Severe Tropical Cyclone Ilsa hit Western Australia in April 2023 as a Category 5 storm. It formed from a tropical low on April 6, intensified rapidly, and made landfall northeast of Port Hedland with winds of 230 km/h. Ilsa caused A$4 million in damage and 8 deaths from capsized boats.
