~~~~~~~~~~ DTAE: Marble Shock ~~~~~~~~~~ ~ Name: Vetra ~ Pronouns: She/her ~ Personality ~ ~ Sarcastic ~ Adventurous ~ Impulsive ~ May add more traits later ~ Story ~ Theirs was a world of color: beautiful, unique. Cats with pelts all the colors of the rainbow, living together in perfect harmony. That's what it looked like from the outside, at least. But in a world where each cat was unique on the outside, they were not allowed to show who they were within. Those in power feared losing their control. And if cats had their own opinions... their own thoughts and feelings... that could be a threat. Even if their coats were different, everyone had to act the same. Of course, some wouldn't accept the rules as easily as others. The council kept their eyes on cats like those. They kept an extra close eye on a young she-cat, purple and white, streaked with bolts of blue and pink. She was dangerous, that one. Always pushing the boundaries, always questioning everything. She lacked respect for her elders. She listened to the council, but only barely. And if she couldn't be kept under control... that was a threat. However, one of her closest friends was a perfect follower of the council. Always friendly and obedient... hopefully she would be a good influence on her. The marbled she-cat hadn't defied the council outright... maybe there was hope for her yet. And so they watched. One day, the purple-and-white she-cat and her sunrise-pelted friend ventured out, away from the village. Exploring the nearby rocky slopes, they had wandered far away from the village when a storm gathered. Thunder rumbled, and lightning began to streak the sky. Paws quick as the lightning above, the cats bolted for the safety of their home. But the storm clouds gathered in the sky... And before they could reach the shelter of trees, the lightning surged down with a deafening C R A C K ! The bolt struck the marbled cat and blasted the other back. They both lay stunned, as the rain began to pour down in sheets. Miraculously, the purple cat was still alive. The two friends limped back to the village, where they were attended by healers. The blue-streaked cat had survived being struck by lightning with no obvious side effects. But the healers watched her. It soon became obvious that the lighting had changed her, even if it wasn't immediately visible. In moments of anger, the cat found that lightning began to crackle around her pelt and her paws. She had no control over this new power, but she hadn't hurt anyone with it. Yet. The council was furious though. It was one thing for this cat to have her own thoughts, and another for her to hold more power than the council itself! They weren't safe anymore. What if she turned against them? If she could influence such an obedient cat, like her friend, what could she do to the rest of the village? She would turn against them at some point. Their hold over the village was no longer secure. This cat couldn't stay. And so, the council cast the marbled cat from the only home she'd ever known, for having powers she had no control over. She was furious, but she had no choice. She left, and wandered away from the village. Alone. This is where this short story ends. But it is where Vetra's story begins.
Guess there's only one way to solve that problem.. ... I should probably try to diversify the designs I enter for though. But the storm-element characters look so C O O L.
