Instructions

Life was too hard to be surreal. When Eiway returned to her home on a small farm outside the kingdom walls, she felt as if in a daze. Her horse was all but used, and she knew her mare wouldn't be chasing any dragons until the weather warmed again. Ever since she was a little girl, she had tended her cows and chickens. Her herd and flock purchased up most of her time, but she couldn't deny she enjoyed it despite the hard work it involved. In any free moment when she wasn't laboring around her farm, she would sit back in the green pastures and let her mind wander back to the dragon. Just now, she had seemed to have finished her work early for the day. Just then, an idea popped into her head. She indulged and entertained the thought, and finaly decided to pursue it. She jogged over to her stable and tacked up Nara's mate, Brynjar. The sturdy, strong Scottish Clydesdale stallion snorted and whinnied in excitement. He was more of a work horse than a chase horse, and so leaving the farm was an excitement for him. She leaped atop his back and kicked off. They covered the couple miles to the city in good time. A couple hours later, they made it inside to the first ring. All citizens were allowed access to the inner rings if they needed to consult the king, and indeed this is what she told the guards. Yet as soon as she had passed the gate-guards line of view, she veered off the path. She was not planning on consulting the king today. She circled the castle cautiously until she found what she had hoped for. She dismounted her steed, landing on the soft grass with a thump. She then proceeded to sink to her knees. There was a brick missing at the base of the castle, and it viewed into one of the castle dungeons. Inside, as she had hoped, she saw her dragon. It lay there, mournfully in chains. It's head was looking the other way, so the beast could not see her nor the light source. She felt horrible for the dragon. Locked away from light and life. Her heart turned cold with sorrow. What had she done?! ~~~ Era's tail twitched at the feeling of loose pebbles falling atop it, precursored by the sound of falling rubble. Era growled at the sound and feeling. This was followed by a brief, human gasp and the sound of rapid footsteps, finished up by a horses galloping hooves, leading farther and farther away. She tried to ignore the thought that she had been watched. It was rather easy to do, considering that yet more footsteps were sounding. This time though, they were towards, and much more numerous. Her dungeon door burst open, and a dozen guards flooded in, The king in the lead. The circled and searched the bare dungeon room untill they could confirm it empty. The king sighed in relief, and patted her on the wing, triggering her to growl. He stood, unafraid, not even looking at her. How daft they must be! She thought. For someone to squeeze through a spot as narrow as that band of light, (for surely that was the only gap,) and possibly harm her? She snorted. She grew annoyed with the king, and growled yet louder. That petty dog was again at the kings side, and began to bark and yap at her. It drew her near insane. She despised that dog. The king nodded, and he and his men retreated from the dungeon, once again leaving her alone in the dank room. She sighed and rested her head on the could stone once more. ~~~ Eiway had tumbled some loose rubble into the room after her panicked thoughts. Surely the guards would hear it, so she made haste to mount Brynjar and bolt for the gate. Luckily, she was not questioned, and was let to race the remaining rings and out of the city. Her heart only slowed its pounding and her breath returned when she had reached her farm cabin. She untacked her horse, returned him to the stable, where Nara was very happy to see him. She went inside her farm cabin and collapsed on her small wood and straw bed. She had to close her eyes for a minute. Eventually, as all the panick and fear left her, and her plan solidified. She would make right her wrong, and it would be dangerous, and difficult, but she would do it. She had to, for the last of her honor. For that, was all she had left of herself.

(Finally, this is Nova speaking) I was actually planning on making it twice this length, then I realized how long that would be... Sort of a cliffhanger I suppose. The animation gives you hints as to what happens I suppose.
