⚠major spoilers for kotlc ahead⚠ ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello and welcome back! Today I'll just be talking about the many ways how Keefe is better for Sophie than Fitz, and explaining why I feel this way. !DISCLAIMER!: Before you read, please note that I do not have any hate against Fitzphie shippers. If you ship it, I respect you and your opinion, and the same goes for any ships you have. I'm always up for a friendly debate, but please be respectful in the comments :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Intro One thing I noticed about the whole triangle is that it reminds me a little bit of the Harry-Cho-Ginny triangle in Harry Potter. Let's look at the parallels: - Fitz was Sophie's first love interest; Cho was Harry's first love interest. - Sophie immediately found Fitz cute when she saw him for the first time. The same happened with Harry; the first time he saw Cho he thought that she was very pretty. I don't necessarily think this counts as 'love at first sight', but it was a crush at first sight, Sophie even telling Fitz in Flashback that she's had a crush on him since the day she met him. Same with Harry and Cho. I dislike this trope, for one thing, but my point is, Sophie did describe Keefe as 'cool and cute' when she first met him, but it wasn't an immediate crush. - Which brings me to how Harry was so caught up with Cho, he didn't realize Ginny had a crush on him. Sophie already liked Fitz, so she didn't notice Keefe liked her. - And Harry began to notice Ginny after he broke up with Cho. Could the same thing happen with Sophie and Keefe? - And also both Fitz and Cho didn't realize their feelings for Sophie and Harry until later. - Keep in mind that Keefe liked Sophie from the very beginning (as evidenced in his art commentary from Unlocked) and it was the same with Ginny liking Harry. - You see where I'm going with this? Fitz = Cho, Keefe = Ginny, and Sophie = Harry. - And which relationship worked out in the end? Harry and Ginny. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Keeper Let's talk about Fitz & Sophie's relationship in book one. I've already explained how I dislike that Sophie liked Fitz from the moment she met him, and how that type of relationship never seems to work out well, so let's get to this: - Fitz didn't see Sophie for a lot of the year. He only started to hang with her when she started to get more interesting: after the splotching match. - Whereas Keefe, he didn't care if she was popular or not, he always hung out with her. Keefe reached out to her and Fitz didn't. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Exile - Fitz blames Sophie for Alden's mind break and is angry at her for no reason. It seriously wasn't her fault. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Everblaze - *sigh* the first time I read the series, this was the point at which I started shipping Fitzphie. - I liked the star-bottling part and I thought that it was significant that Sophie felt more natural doing it with Fitz rather than Dex and that's still a given - poor Dex never even had a chance. - Plus them taking Telepathy sessions together and starting to trust each other - like, REALLY trust each other. I loved that, and I still do, but as friends. - but this is also where Keefe starts to say 'please don't hate me' and my hearts just breaks so let's move on ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Neverseen This book is my favorite and there are a lot of moments between the two of them. This is also when Sophie and Fitz became Cognates, but whatever- - I love the way Sophie comforts him when he hears the news about his mom. I can't even describe how much my heart breaks for Keefe in this book, and Sophie was there to help him through it. - I really like it when Sophie is the more confident one in the relationship and I know it doesn't happen often so I savor it while I can - THE NECKLACE Ok can we talk about Fitz now because: - This is the book when Keefe began flirting more openly with Sophie, whereas before it had been small and not in front of other people. - This was also the book where Fitz began to develop a crush on Sophie, as evidenced in Flashback. - So I feel like Fitz was just getting jealous of Keefe and Sophie and I hate that :/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Lodestar Now we all know that Keefe was absent for most of this but :'D - Ok Fitz gave her the Cognate rings and it was super cute I can't even avoid it - But I hate how Fitz snatched that favor lol - THE TELEPATHIC CONVOS BETWEEN SOPHIE AND KEEFE I CAN'T mkay let's move on lol ----------------------------------------------------------------------- (cont. in notes & credits)
