Coal wiped the tears from his face and leapt over the fence. He wandered around the forest, with no particular intentions, maybe he was looking for Amber. He didn’t know. He looked up and there was a cave looming in front of him. ‘I can’t go back to Ash tonight after all I’ve done’ he thought ‘I’ll take shelter here for the night.’ He padded into the cave. There was a long, narrow passage that pressed his whiskers to his muzzle, but it was too small to turn around so he continued on. Finally he reached an opening. The cave was dark, but the smallest bit of starlight showed him that there was a pool of water nearby. Suddenly as moon high hit a hole in the ceiling a blinding light surrounded Coal and he squeezed his eyes shut. When he opened his eyes about a minute later the pool that he had seen was filled with stars. In it was his reflection. But, it wasn’t him. His collar was gone and his fur was spiked and ruffled. He had scars on him but his face was happy. “What is this?” he yowled, taking a step back from the pool The thing that surprised him the most was that beside him was Song, her belly swollen. He tried to shake it from his mind as he ran out of the cave. “Its just a dream!” he yowled “its just a dream!”
