Instructions

Read Please! Story: The game opens with 7th grader Max(the main character) being woken up by a mysterious voice who warns him of danger in a somewhat humorous way. Mystified, Max grabs his backpack and lunch and leaves for school. Once outside, the voice speaks again and says that he must go to school with his friends, John and Breana, and remain with them for the rest of the day. So Max asks his friends to come with him to school (i.e. they join the party). On the way to school, they have a short conversation with Logan, who is a teenager in his Junior year of high school and is a friend of Max and John, and his girlfriend Leah. This is meant to introduce these main characters, as they join the party later in the story. Once they arrive at class, the teacher, Professor Dora, tutors the students in battling with her robot ROB-33(Robotic Outraged Bee-#Number 33 or for short, "Robee"), as she often tries out her inventions with her students. She also teaches them about chronoseals(savepoints). After this, she asks for them to turn in their homework. The screen pixelates and warps, and then returns to normal, but it seems that the homework requirements have never existed, as if timelines were altered. In fact, the teacher says there is no homework for a week. Then, after a few lines of dialogue, a kid named Marco disappears after another warp, and everyone but Max, John, Breana acts as if he never existed. Finally, another warp happens, and the clock suddenly changes to 3:00, meaning that school is dismissed. Max, John, and Breana walk out confused, as everyone seems oblivious to these warps and to these changes, as if timelines were altered. Everyone except them, of course. Max vows to get to the bottom of this and John and Breana agree to aid him in this quest. While they leave the school, the voice informs them that high levels of chrono distortion are occurring after the strange events at school(which the voice informs are called the "holloflux"), meaning that entities from other eras (controlled enemies) will spawn from now on and that a "mysterious force" seems to be the source of these occurrences and will manipulate the entities. The voice says that strangely, the inside of buildings will be safe from enemy spawn. The kids panic and face the fatal reality of outside being unsafe and to the voice's dismay, decide to hide in the school(like any kid would). The voice tries to convince them that hiding in the school will do no good and says that they fought with Robee and succeeded. John objects in panic at the thought of the danger outside, but then Robee mentions about chronoseals and somewhat complexly explains how they ensure that falling at the hands of enemies will only return them to this point, which John with his videogame knowledge refers to as saving. The kids calm down and Breana says that her aunt might be able to help, which the voice affirms by saying that "if she has wacky inventions in her classroom, indubitably, her lab should have a surplus of beneficial items. Maybe even another chronoseal, who knows?" Before being able to leave, John, an oversaver while playing videogames, insists on the team sneaking into the classroom and use the chronoseal again, to avoid "having to skip past the previous scenes if we are defeated." This requires guessing a 3-digit code(code is 208), which is clued by 3 students in the hall. They traverse the overworld to reach Dora's lab over inconveniently at the other side of town, whilst randomly encountering overworld enemies for the first time and puzzling over how Dora reached the lab without them seeing her leave the classroom or the school. The voices says, "Who knows? Maybe she snook out back or something. Or just literally teleported once you left the classroom. These things happen way too often in adventures(for real though)." They reach the lab and meet Dora, who at first thinks Breana is just visiting with her friends. When she sees their distraught faces, she asks what's wrong. They explain what they saw happened. Dora appears to not believe the friends, until the voice starts speaking and convinces Dora. During this, Dora suggests that the voice be called "Unidentified Voice" since "???" is a "rather illogical title". The voice agrees, but only if it is shortened to "UV". Dora agrees to give aid and shares the knowledge she knows about time warps, including chronoseals, which she discovered around town and managed to recreate in her lab. She allows them to save. However, beyond that she can't give much aid at the present. The kids question this, but she says that "time-related distortions are so...messy and hard to deal with. My old age will only slow you down." John tries asking for a Trayodium-powered Blaster Handheld, but Dora strictly informs him that "all tech in MY lab is for professionals only, and indubitably, you are not a professional."

Description

Credits: @bestOftheBest77 Continued Before they leave, Dora gives them a keycard, saying that she "doesn't remember what it goes to, but it should be helpful." The kids leave, but Breana states that her aunt hasn't actually given them much direction. John attempts to sound incredibly intelligent and says that it seems like they will have to think through this logically without Dora's assistance. He asks Max what the best course of action would be. At this point, the scene suddenly stops and darkens. A new character, Guy Dense walks onto the screen. He talks to the player directly and reveals himself to be the "guide to the game." He teaches you about decision making(i.e. choice boxes) and makes it clear that "your choices matter." However, "most of the time, Max can make his choices" and that "...you don't control his every action. However, there will be times when another dialog box will appear with different potential answers or responses to something." He then returns you back to the story, ending this tutorial. John asks Max whether they should "call the police, hack the school cameras to have footage of the holloflux, jump into a time warp, or give up and go to that new restaurant Pollotarian Time." No matter the choice, John will eventually persuade you to hack the school computers. The screen darkens again and Guy Dense says, "Guess your choices didn't matter. Sorry. But heya, maybe they will someday. Maybe they will." The kids head back over to school, but are confronted by Brennan, a bully of Max and John who always wears large jackets. Afterwards, they wonder how to get inside the school when Dora calls them, saying that the keycard accesses a secret area underneath the basketball court where Dora tapped the cameras. The kids slightly question the legality of Dora's involvement in school security, but she answers, "The place is left to me. Therefore, I have a right to my left, and that right is knowledge." Then she hangs up, but this sentence hints that the right basketball hoop hides the secret entrance. John and Max think that using a keycard in the obvious slot in the basketball hoop is too obvious, so they try shenanigans to open the entrance such as climbing to the top and jumping through the hoop or attempting to voice activate it. Breana, fed up with their nonsense, grabs the keycard and resolutely puts in the slot, saying "Some of y'all are the reason why shampoo bottles have instructions." They enter and find the terminal with the tapped footage, but when they boot it up, they find a platformer minigame waiting for them in order to access the footage. The party bemoans the constant puzzles, but after the voice says something witty about puzzles, they finish the minigame. They find footage of the holloflux and carry it over to the police station, but when the police look at it, Marco doesn't exist in the footage being played on the police computer, making it seem like nothing happened. Very dejected and humiliated, the kids call Dora, who says that she doesn't "know what to do, but head over to the park because something may happen to advance the story somehow." At the park, they meet Colter, a friend of Breana who works part-time at the museum. He seems distraught and says that when the truck carrying Torvosaurus bones that were recently found stopped for a break, he was in charge of watching over the bones. Curious, he took out the bones, but while doing so, a white dog stole them and hid around the park. He asks the kids to find them, which is done by checking around the park. Once they find all the bones, they suddenly reassemble, and a time warp opens and swallows the kids. A boss fight is fought with Torvosaurus, who can be killed, reasoned with and freed(to get the crystal), or left alone. Afterwards, Colter seems oblivious to what happened, as no one could see the time warp, but he is grateful for the bones. After he leaves, police suddenly show up and accuse Max and friends of robbing EZ Convivence, as the footage given somehow now shows the kids discussing robbery. Depending on how you answer, Max and friends are proven innocent or are thrown in jail. Either way, the chapter suddenly ends there.
