Quiet dens. Silent nights, the birds settling and the owls’ call echoing in the distant forest.. the stars shine cooly on the scene of swaying trees and glistening lakes bellow. Most everyone would find a time like this.. peaceful, or calming. Possibly even..beautiful. However.. At times like these.. Many can be troubled. Is it from the eerie silence, only broken by the owls occasional call? It it because anything could be hidden in the many patches of shade, which are not illuminated by the moons gentle rays..? We may never know. “Flame.” Shiver, the only one who never referred to me as ‘king’ or ‘your majesty’ Heh… I always told myself I could never have a good friend again, even after I was well aware me and shiver had formed our bonds. “Yes?” I feel terribly sorry for him.. “I felt you were awake. Night like these are often sleepless for you..if you don’t mind me asking, what is bothering your mind this time?” He’s constantly trapped in this.. feeling. His life is everlasting, he’s banished to eternal suffering.. “I… ..I was thinking…. who am I really…?” “What do you mean?” “There are many rumors about me, and I myself aren’t even sure of what to do or feel… am I a great, strong king? Am cowardly? Secretive? Honest? Some believe I’ll kill them, other believe I’m their secret savior.., I… I’m not sure who I am anymore, shiver..” .. “Who do you want to be?” “That’s the thing, I don’t know.I want to do the right thing, shiver, so badly… but what is the right thing to do?” “Perhaps… put yourself in the position of others.. do your decision’s help in anyway.. or are they just to continue your father’s reign? “ … “I don’t think…I… maybe… I think I’ve made all the wrong choices…” “.. may I make a suggestion..?” “Go ahead.” “Perhaps.. don’t do things for your father any longer… I know you deeply respect him and have a strong loyalty to him.. but look at the harm his decisions caused? You told me previously you don’t want to be him.” “Of course not” “Then,.. think for yourself. Don’t let him control you, he is gone.. he can’t come form the grave to haunt you.” “He does…” “No, flame, his memory haunts you… his memory cant do anything.” “I… I suppose not..” “So what is your choice?” .. “I’ll need to think upon this.. thank you, shiver.”
