Metroidvania: My favorite game genre. A kind of platformer where you explore a non-linear (not in a straight line) world, and find abilities that help you reach new areas. Look up Hollow Knight and Ori for examples. Bullet Hell: A game where there are a lot of bullets or other projectiles you have to dodge. It's usually very hard. @ThatHammerkind makes great bullet hell games. RPG: Stands for Role Playing Game. Some examples are the Divinity: Original Sin series and the Elder Scrolls series. JRPG: A kind of RPG that usually involves the leveling of characters and strategic, turn based battles. An example is the Dragon Quest franchise. Physics: Any game where physics plays a big part, like Human Fall Flat. Party: A game for more than two players, usually a chaotic one. Some examples are Ultimate Chicken Horse, Gang Beasts, and the Jackbox Games. FPS: First Person Shooter. There are a million of these. Roguelite: A game where dying resets your progress, but each attempt you find different gear and power-ups to eventually beat the game. Usually, you can do something between 'runs' to make your next attempt easier. Some examples are Hades, Dead Cells, and Nuclear Throne.
