Disclaimer: This may contain references to de@th and vi0lence. Most of these characters are mine. Sandclaw is probably the most forgotten character to ever exist in Distants canon. He appeared once in Chapter 22 of Falling Sun to help Sparkfall, then just... disappeared. However, although he doesn't have much use in the plot other than as a background character, I felt the need to give him a backstory, or at least just explain him. So, here goes. Sandclaw was born in OasisClan, during the reign of Brilliantstar. He was an only child, but there were lots of kits at the time, so he had plenty of friends. One of the kits who was around the same age as him was Thrushkit, who would later be known as Thrushstar. During their apprenticeship, he developed a crush on her, although he wouldn't admit it to her. Months passed, the two became warriors, but he still wouldn't confess. And Thrushwing was beginning to grow attached to another cat, Foamglow. Before long, she took him as her mate, and they had two kits, Blisterkit and Hopekit. Then, Brilliantstar died, and Silverstar became leader. Thrushwing, whose kits were old enough to not rely on her anymore, became deputy.
Sandclaw was very upset. Now that she had so much to do, she wouldn't care about him anymore. He grew angry towards Foamglow and began to act bitter with any cats living happily with their mate. And then disaster struck in camp. A fire started in the OasisClan camp, and many cats were killed - including Thrushwing's kits. Sandclaw had tried to save them, but had failed. Foamglow knew this and blamed him for his kits' deaths. Sandclaw was heartbroken, but also furious. He lashed out, claiming that he'd ruined his life. The two yelled at each other, arguing, until Sandclaw finally snapped and attacked Foamglow, blind with rage. This was not a good choice. The rest of the Clan took Foamglow's side, and Sandclaw was banished from the Clan. Then Sandclaw was visited by a spirit from the Foggy Woods. They tried to convince him to go back and get vengeance by killing those who'd wronged him. But he refused, knowing that he'd only break Thrushwing's heart more. The next morning, Sandclaw's body was found by a patrol. He had slit his own throat because he couldn't bear being away from the cat he'd loved.
