So recently I've somehow been getting a boost of motivation to work on this storyline, and since I've garnered enough confidence to share it in full, here we are! If you already don't know, this a Paper Mario-inspired AU based on my experiences in Roblox roleplays (particularly Paper Mario ones). ===================================== LORE: Since the Mushroom Kingdom's beginning, the Toads and Koopas were long-term rivals, with most of the other races siding with the latter. The toads grew jealous and started building a machine called VORTEX in secret to manipulate everyone into joining their side. However, news would spread of this and war broke out between the two. Meanwhile, a third race of Sapphirs in the scene alongside of "Dymin energy," which the toads figured to use as power for their machine. Eventually, their fortress is raided and two of the main races' leaders duel each other. However, an accident causes to activate earlier than intended and creates a rift in the sky, sending all Sapphirs back to their homeland and banishing the Koopas as well as their allies to the kingdom's wastelands. Years later, VORTEX still remains hidden deep within the Toads' rebuilt castle. Koopa Lord Bowser soon captures the princess in an attempt to avenge his war-tattered ancestors. However, two brothers Mario and Luigi are somehow transported into their universe just in time. The toads take a liking to them and tasks them with rescuing the princess. Once they do, VORTEX regains enough Dymin energy to regain access to the multiverse, basically snatching various characters from other universes into this one and disguising it as a game to everyone else. It also manages to reach Mysteria, wiping all Sapphir remains there but their souls. (...I'mma finish this later I promise-)
