This is a story that me and @Moon__Stream will be writing together to explain the gap in between when Coalfur and Songstar (Coal and Song) were kittypets to now, when they are warriors (and leaders) of Nightclan. For every Coal chapter released there will be a Song chapter and vice versa! Enjoy the chapter! | v
The moons seemed to fly by. Ten, then fifteen. Eventually he lost count. It was a sunny greenleaf day, and Coal, now a full grown tom was sunning in his garden. These days he didn’t think much of Song, though when he did you could tell because his spirits were always low. Suddenly Ash leapt over Coal’s fence. “Coal! Coal!” Ash shouted Coal looked up with tired eyes “Yeah?” “My twolegs took my to the vet about my belly-ache, and it turns out that I’ve had your kits!” Ash explained, purring Coal shot up. He was a father? Memories of Song washed over him like a tsunami. “Whats wrong? Aren’t you happy?” Ash asked, the smile slipping from her face “Oh yeah- of course” Coal said quickly “Well come and see them you mouse-brain!” Ash teased Coal staggered to his paws and followed Ash to her garden. “Are you going to bring them out?” Coal asked “No, you’re going to come into my nest to see them, silly!” Ash snorted Coal had never been inside Ash’s nest. Would her housefolk be okay with it? Would his housefolk be okay with it? Ash was already slipping in. Coal padded towards the door where one of Ash’s housefolk was standing. When he padded in after Ash the twoleg didn’t try and stop him. ‘It must know that I’m the father’ Coal thought Ash and Coal padded past some twoleg things before they arrived at a bundle of blankets where two grey and black kits were curled. All of his fear and mixxed feelings were forgotten at the sight of the tiny bundles. “I waited for you to name them” Ash murmured Coal looked at the tinier one, grey tabby a she-kit with Amber eyes. “What about Amber?” Coal suggested Ash nodded “I like that” she looked to the other “We can name the other one Song. I know how much you miss her” Coal smiled “I love you, and our kits” Half of it was a lie.
