Apple was a pale ginger tom with light green eyes. He was a close friend of Coal’s, and was usually where Coal went for advice. Today was a foggy day and dew soaked Coal’s fur. Even though the muddy ground sucked in his paws as he walked, making an off popping sound, Coal was determined to visit Apple. Fortunately, Apple lived just a garden away from Coal. The garden in between had been Song’s. So though he would usually walk along the fence, whenever he visited Apple he would walk through the grass so he wouldn’t have to visit his memories of Song. Coal hopped onto Apple’s fence “Apple are you here?” he called The pale ginger tom slid from the cat door “Come to rant to me about how much you miss Song again?” he predicted with a half-smile of sympathy “I wish I could say I wasn’t” Coal sighed, hopping down from the fence and sitting down in Apple’s garden. Apple padded over “Tell me all about what you’re thinking” “Well…I’m not sure if Ash should really be my mate” Coal admitted, shuffling his paws “Don’t ever say that!” Apple snapped “Of course she should be!” “But well…I don’t think I’m in love with her. I think I’m in love with Song” Col explained Apple sighed “Always suspected that” he murmured Coal looked out into the distance, seeing the towering trees. “It’s too late now” Coal sighed
