The 1996 Cetro Étonnant This model only has one variant because it did not make it to the production line due to the lack of resources back then. Therefore, there were only 21 made and 16 are still on the road today. Cetro is thinking about bring out more variants in 2023 but with the same style because they have the resources now.
In 1996 Cetro was thinking about bringing out a car with underrated power and speed. That's how one of the designers came up with the Étonnant. The Étonnant looked like a car that an elderly person would drive nowadays, but back in the 90's that was the style at the time. Cetro began production of the car immediately but unfortunetly ran out of the certain resources needed for the engine. Cetro did not have enough money to buy more of the resource for the part of the engine and production came to a halt. Only 21 were made with parts for 14 more were produced in that time. The 21 cars that made it out were sold for $56,000 each due to the underrated and expensive engine. All 21 sold in 3 weeks due to the price. The cars that had the frame and body but no engine were also sold for $30,000 each. Those sold out in a month. Most of the people who bought those put engines in the cars to drive around. There was one person who knew about the rarity of the car and bought one of the 14 with no engine in it and put it in a museum. Unfortunetly, in the 27 years that this car has existed, only 16 of the engine ones are still on the road today and only 9 of the non engine ones are still on the road today. Now, in 2023, Cetro is thinking about bring back the Étonnant in the old classic 1996 version and a modern day version since they have the resources...
