On an Incident on 21 June, 1878, No.1 "Meurig" was taking slate wagons up to the newly built Quarry. Meurig back then was an impressionable young engine who liked to show off, the previous day, it had rained so hard that mud had slid onto the tracks. As Meurig was puffing along, he wasn't watching where he was going, mind you he was going 5 over the posted speed (Posted speed: 45mph or 72km/h). His driver noticed the mudslide, but it was too little too late, he slid into the mudslide, becoming stuck. Fortunatly, No.2 "Fletcher" was not too far away and picked up some workmen and came to Meurig's aid. eventually, they got him free and continued along the way to the quarry together, since then, both engines grew a brotherly bond.
