CHAPTER 2 Flowerflight’s eyes widened in disbelief, how could a cat be so ambitious, and power-hungry? “We believe you could get back Clayfish quicker, since StarClan cant.” Dockpaw mewed. His tail froze stiff in place as he stared at her, “Come follow me.” He mewed shakily, Flowerflight tilted her head at the tom, why was he like.. That? She wondered, a hint of curiousness brushed her thoughts as she made her way alongside the calico tom, his gaze clearly on something else, the rift, maybe? Flowerflight thought as they neared a deep hole, looking like Mothermouth, at least, as the elders say. Flowerflight followed the nervous tom as he neared the edge of a dimly lit cave, the distant scuffling noises of an animal (perhaps, a bat.) gave away a quiet echo as they made their way farther and farther into the eerie stillness of the cavern, Flowerflight padded along cautiously, her whiskers grazing the fluffed out fur of Dockpaw beside her, the small tom clearly was uncomfortable. all-a-sudden, she began to sense a wider space, and what lay before her and Dockpaw was a huge spiked crystal, basking in the milky moonlight which reflected on it's smooth surface, pools of moonlight danced and rippled around them, and Flowerflight though she'd never seen anything more beautiful than this, whatever it was. "What is this?" she managed to speak, despite her astonishment. "That's the Moonstone." Dockpaw replied, he then nudged her forward, and Flowerflight padded towards it. "Press your nose to it, okay?" Dockpaw layed down in a loaf pose, closed his eyes, and lightly touched his pink nose to it, Flowerflight copied, and shuddered from the sudden flash of cold that sent chills down her spine. the she-cat closed her eyes and calmed, falling asleep. *** Flowerflight woke herself up with a huge yawn, but, the feel under her paw-pads wasn't the same, instead of a cold, stone-hard and bumpy floor, it was soft, like moss and wool. she opened her eyes and blinked out the sleep, cats with stars in their pelts surrounded her with warm, worried, or welcoming eyes. she spun around, wondering if this was a dream. until she went nose to nose with dockpaw, "Come here," he mewed, then, sending a signal for her to follow him with a flick of his tail. *** They approached a huge rift in the soft ground, and kits, queens, elders, leaders, warriors and medicine cats surrounded it, Flowerflight gazed in awe at it, 'How in StarClan's name could a single cat do that?' she thought, blindly almost falling in, luckily, a black tom caught her. "Mouse-brain! what are you THINKING?" he hissed, but Flowerflight dipped her head in respect and gratitude for the tom, stepping back, she licked furiously at her chest fur, 'what AM i thinking?' she took a good look around, and a long-legged, black-and-white patched she-cat trotted over to her, taking a moment to dip her head and excuse the crowd of cats. the she-cat turned her head and blinked at Flowerflight with tired, old, amber eyes. "Greetings, Flowerflight." she purred, her voice rusty and old. "i am Icebriar, i was a leader in WindClan in the time your father was a kit. i stepped down though." she paused for a moment and gazed warmly at her, for a second, then turned serious. 'StarClan- i don't like how she looks when she's serious-' Flowerflight thought, quietly keeping it to herself to respect to the old leader. "You must be ready, this is a hard task for a young cat like you, but that was Mouse-scream's decision.." she muttered at the end. she shook her head, "Nevermind, are you ready?" she asked, her amber gaze blazed into Flowerflight's blue. "Yes." Flowerflight gulped. ** They neared the rift, and Flowerflight tensed her muscles to leap in, 'I can find Clayfish..' she sighed, took a good look around her, and leaped in. Black water clouded her gaze and soaked her pelt 'i'm drowning!' she thought helplessly, 'was this a trick?' she thought as she tried to paddle deeper to a white light, 'no.. there's a light!' she rushed faster, her legs flailing as she neared it. all of a sudden, it seemed like the light was pulling her, and she got close enough to put a paw in. and it sucked her in. images of a world that looked so farmiliar flashed through her head. a lush.. green valley.. there were voices of cats, too. she couldn't quite make out who they were though. Flowerflight Blinked open her eyes, she was in the exact valley she'd seen! But.. 'Where am i?' END
