(scene opens to Jane lying awake in bed with her necklace clutched in her hand) Jane: (sad but quiet) Today will be a better day (she gets up and the scene changes to a bright park with a bench where Nyla waits) Nyla: where is she? we are gonna be late. (Jane runs around the corner her hair a mess) Nyla: what... Jane:(cuts her off) one second.(pants for a moment to catch her breath) big dog chased me down the street. Nyla: (annoyed) I told you not to pass the Feldman's yard Jane: well I forgot okay. (Nyla smirks) Nyla: this is why I am always right Jane: yeah yeah but we got to go it's nearly eight (scene changes to a classroom where Alex sits in a desk in front of Jane's) Alex: (whisper) watch this loser (Alex pulls out a pair of scissors and cuts a bit of his hair off. he winks at Jane then raises his hand) Teacher: yes Alex? Alex: Miss Jane is cutting my hair.(he holds up the hair) Jane: What! Miss he is lying(she stands) He cut it himself. the scissors are right...(trails off) (the scissors are on her desk) Teacher: Jane sit down! Detention for bulling and disruption of the classroom. (Jane sits dejectedly) Teacher: as I was saying I need members for the new computer lab club. Siana is the leader. Siana anything else? (a girl stands up in the back of the classroom) Siana: since it is new there will be some bumps that we will need to work through together and everyone is welcome. no experience needed. (the girl sat down) (scene change to an empty hallway where Jane sits in a chair outside a closed door) Jane: dumb detention. I didn't even do anything. (Siana comes out a door at the end of the hall) Siana: I don't meant to eavesdrop but I saw the whole thing and I'm really sorry your in detention. Jane: (dejected) thanks but that's no use now. Siana: well I cant fix your problem but I can fix your mood.(she made a ridiculous face) Jane: (laughs a bit) so can you tell me about your club? Siana:(sadly) not really I'm the only member right now. Jane: well me and my friend Nyla will join. (Nyla runs into the hallway) Jane: speaking of which. Hi Nyla Nyla: I heard only a minute ago from Grace who heard it from Jeff who heard it from Minnie who listened to Alex bragging about it. Siana: Nice to meet you too. Nyla: oh sorry. um who are you. Siana: I'm Siana I run the computer club. Jane: Siana was just telling me about her club and i was thinking of joining. Nyla: sounds fun I'm in. Siana: really? (they nod) Thank you! (the door handle turns and a teacher steps out) Teacher: Shoo Jane is in detention not social hour. (Nyla and Siana leave chattering to each other as if they had been friends for ages not minutes) (scene changes back to Janes room) Jane:(quiet) soon... (credits roll)
