Instructions

Windpaw was having lots of fun training, and he was excited that Echokit would be joining them soon - in half a moon, in fact - but she was still sad about her siblings not being with her. And he had noticed that Icepaw wasn’t smiling quite as often as she did before Redclay died. He was worried about her. He was worried about the prophecy. He was worried that Archclaw was going to put brambles in his nest to get back at him for insulting Archclaw when he was a kit (Windpaw, not Archclaw). His life was simply filled with stress, grief, and worry. So Windpaw would go to the Hindwalker dens. There, no one expected anything of him, he wasn’t busy with tasks, he could think about how to cheer both of his sisters, and he didn’t have a nest for Archclaw to place brambles in. He would meet up with some cute she-cats too. He didn’t get sent there on patrol much, though, so he just went there in his free time. But whenever he talked to house cats, he had to be careful that no warrior from his clan was watching. One time, a warrior named Mintspring found him. She told him that she thought it was fine, but she was going to tell Thistlestrike. Windpaw was scolded and told not to go there again. That didn’t compare to when Icepaw found him. She scolded him so badly for breaking the rule that his mentor had put down that Windpaw was surprised she technically didn’t curse. Windpaw had been made to do the elders’ bedding for a quarter-moon, but it went unnoticed by Thistlestrike and Redclay, as he had still been alive then. Echokit didn’t even know it yet. Still, he was going to go to the Hindwalker place. No one could stop him, no matter how many punishments he got. Thistlestrike and Icepaw still probably had suspicions. He didn’t care. He hadn’t met many cats yet, though he saw them peeking at him and when he turned, they disappeared. Today, he was going to his friend Mimi’s den. Mimi was an orange tabby she-cat, which was rare. He jumped onto the fence that separated him from Mimi’s backyard - which was a very small field with these things called a table and chairs - to wait for his friend, who soon arrived. “Hi, Windpaw,” Mimi said, dipping her head and smiling warmly at him. “How is your clan life going?” Windpaw sighed. “Not really well. You know last time when I was supposed to meet you, but I never showed up?” “Yeah.” “That time, I was working in the elder’s den for coming here. Then, about a moon ago, my sister’s mentor was killed. She has a new one, but she really liked her mentor. She’s depressed now.” Continue in Credits

Description

Mimi froze. “A cat died?” “Yeah. It was sad.” “Cats must die all the time, between how you fight between groups and with animals,” Mimi said. “Well, definitely with animals, but usually not with other clans. One law says you should never kill a cat in battle, unless they are trying to do the same,” Windpaw explained. “Or if you have an absolutely valid reason.” “You guys have a complex law thing huh?” “Grow up with it, you don’t question it.” “Hm.” Windpaw sighed. “I’m definitely breaking a warrior law right now.” “You are?” Mimi had a weird expression. “One of the warrior laws says we have to reject the life of a kittypet, but I heard that waaaaay back then when there were still five clans, a cat from the clan of lightning left to become a kittypet. There was one in the clan of wind who was friends with one too, so it’s probably fine.” “There are more than 3 clans?” “It’s pretty boring.” “Try me.” “No.” “Whatevs. I have someone to introduce you to,” Mimi said, flicking her tail. She leaped onto the fence and bounded along it. “He is one of the cats I visit most often,” she continued. “Uh, ok. What’s his name?” “Cloud.” “Should I be jealous?” Windpaw occasionally flirted with Mimi, and she would flirt back, but she had made it very clear that she wasn’t interested in him. “Shut up, Windpaw.” Windpaw followed her along the side of the road (weird words) to a bright blue house, which was where kittypets lived. “Wait here,” she told him. She jumped over the fence and disappeared. A few moments later, she reemerged with a cat whose fur was as white as Icepaw’s. His eyes, though, were emerald green like Crystalstar’s. “Hi!” Cloud mewed enthusiastically. “You live here?” Windpaw said, staring at the blue house. “No,” Cloud said. “I live in the fields.” He nodded towards the plains beyond the Hindwalker place. “It’s getting dark,” Mimi said. “Maybe you could spend the night with me?” “Really?” Windpaw asked. He didn’t want to go through the forest with foxes on the prowl. “Of course,” Mimi said. Windpaw followed her to her home, in the “cat door”, and onto her circular nest. It was much softer than the moss he slept on in the camp. The next morning, Windpaw stretched, jumped down, and walked out the cat door. He decided to just leave Mimi asleep and go hunt, then head back and pretend that he had been hunting and gotten lost. Windpaw purred, praising himself on his master plan, when suddenly - “Windpaw!” Windpaw’s heart sank as he saw the white fur of Icepaw running towards him, her blue eyes flashing like chips of ice. “What are you doing here?!” she snapped. “You know Thistlestrike said no coming here!” “I-” Windpaw started. “Come on!” Icepaw interrupted. “Echokit’s getting her apprentice ceremony!” Sorry not sorry for the cliffhanger >:) Previous: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/777616182 First: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/737784560/ Next: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/778755441
