The Triceratops wandered towards a dusty lake; the very same one he used as a dust bath almost a month ago. The chicks watch patiently, curious on what he was about to do. The lapping of water offered a calm environment, and this allowed the fully grown bull to get into action. Laying down near the water, the Triceratops began to kick some dust upwards, allowing the dust cloud to form once again. The chicks sat there, some confused and some curious. He then began to roll around, the dust cloud slowly covering him entirely. This was an essential behaviour he had to teach his chicks; although most parasites that latch onto the skin are harmless to adult Triceratops, the chicks have a much weaker and still developing immune system, so the parasites expose them more to disease. However, the dust cause the parasites to let go, freeing the chicks from danger. As the dust cloud grew, one of the chicks copied his parent and began to roll around in the dust too, inspired by his actions. The Triceratops will continue to raise his chicks for a year before they leave him to fend for themselves.
No, he is not dead. Sadly, this is the end of the series. HOWEVER, I am thinking of making more series like this covering other ceratopsians, such as Protoceratops and Pachyrhinosaurus. Creatures in this chapter: Triceratops (Akida) And yes, Akida's new model will be replacing his old model in each chapter soon. Music: Prehistoric Planet theme (Just thought it would be a more fitting song for the end of the series.
