~ Chapter 1 - New Day ~ I walked up to the front of the class, and began to introduce myself. “Hello! My name is Sage. I love reading-” I was interrupted by a boy with hazel eyes and light brown hair, cut short. “Hah, reading?!” He exclaimed. “Who would want to do that?” The boy giggled and then smirked at me. I sighed and looked at my teacher. “Liam, that’s not very polite. Please apologize to Sage.” Mrs. Rei frowned. Liam glanced at me. “Sorry,” He muttered. Mrs. Rei shifted her eyes back to me. “Sage, why don’t you continue-” The bell rang. “Oh, it’s time for English, class dismissed.” So far, my first day was not the best. But, that’s okay, because it’s time for my favorite subject. I hope the teacher is nice. I walked down the tile hallway and brushed my hand across the wall. ‘Room 103, English.’ I read the signs. ‘Mr. Seler.’ That must be the teacher. I pushed open the door and sat down at a desk. Other students entered the room as I sat quietly, looking around at the classroom. Mr. Seler stood up. “For the new students,” He began, “My name is Mr. Seler, but call me Mr. Sel.” He continued with his introduction, and after he finished, he picked up a blue dry erase marker and wrote on the board. It read, ‘Book Show & Tell’. I perked up. Mr. Sel smiled. “To celebrate the start of the school year, we’ll be having a Book Show & Tell.” I smiled too. “Tomorrow, you’ll bring your favorite book to school and tell us why you like it.” For the rest of the lesson, it was all I could think about. ~ Chapter 2 - Blank-Paged Beauty ~ The next day at school, I ran to English instead of walking. My hand didn’t brush against the wall, it flapped frantically. I didn’t bother to read the signs, I opened the door and sat at my desk. I set the book down on the smooth surface. Mr. Sel stood up again. “Alright! Let’s get this started. Who wants to go first?” I stood up and put my hand in the air, fighting the urge to yell out, ‘Me!’ Mr. Sel nodded. “Sage, go ahead.” As I walked up to the front of the class, I smiled a proud grin. “My book is called ‘Imagine’! Here, I’ll show you what’s in the inside.” I opened the book and turned it to the others. A confused look came upon their faces. I frowned. One of them called out, “It’s…..blank.” I nodded. “It is. It’s why it’s the best book for everyone,” They tilted their heads. “You get to decide what’s there. Pictures, words, poems, your own story.” The students seemed to begin to understand. I smiled shyly. “So…?” Mr. Sel turned to me. “Sage, it’s a great book, but not…quite what we were looking for.” I slumped and frowned. “I need to go to the bathroom!” I said quickly. I ran out of the classroom, eyes bloodshot even though I hadn’t cried yet. Instead of sprinting to the bathroom, I headed to the library. The only place I could read my story and not be bothered. After reading, flipping the pages that were there but were not, I slowly dozed off. That’s all I can tell you. ~ Chapter 3 - Willow Tree ~ When I got home, my mom asked me how my day was. I replied with, “Fine.” But my mom knew something was up. I explained everything to her, and she comforted me. It made me feel a bit better, but not completely well. I ran to our backyard and sat by the aged willow tree. It was dark out by now, and fireflies were illuminating the tree. It was quite a sight. I opened my book and imagined. A story of a girl, a story of a willow tree. A story of a book, a story about me. The best story. I may not have a ‘real book’, but I have an imagination to make it real. To read the unreadable. It was mine, and it was part of me. Without it, I might have not been sitting here outside at night, next to the fireflies and the grand, majestic willow tree, holding the book, the blank-paged book, that only some could unlock- all you had to do was imagine. This tree…This tree gives me the best thoughts and ideas. This tree is mine, my willow tree. ~ Chapter 4 - Rise Up ~ The next day, I woke up tired and weak. I hadn’t gotten the best rest, I’d been thinking about what happened in English. It’d been bugging me ever since it happened. I had a slight headache but I persevered and got up. Long story short, it was a long morning. ha-haaaa. i was stupid again and forgot to finish my entry T^T
