Backstory - Thrush and Shine had been mates for years. They'd met near a gentle flowing river one day. At first, they'd been wary and cautious. They didn't trust each other, and always startled when the other came too close. Without arranging anything, they bumped into each other again. Thrush was in a hurry, and Shine was curious, so she followed him. Little did she know that Thrush knew she was following him. He took her to the same river, and swam underwater. Shine swallowed. She hated water, but she was going to have to do it. She followed, and she arrived in a beautiful bioluminescent cave. They stayed for hours, and that's when Shine cracked. 'Thrush... I want to be your mate.' 'Oh, Shine, YES!' They became mates, the cave becoming their home. But one day, Shine went hunting. She came back with a fat rabbit in her jaws. and ducked her head under. She felt something was wrong. She looked down... and she was flying? She was slowly drifting upwards. 'Oh no, am I... dead?' She thought. She saw Thrush approach her limp, bedraggled body. He howled to the sky, in anguish and grief. 'Thrush!' Shine called from the sky. 'Thrush! It'll be fine, okay? I'll come back and see you!' And every full moon, though the border between dead and alive still separates them, they see each other once again.
