Try to buy shares when the value is low, and sell them when the value is higher than what you bought them at. You can see whether you're making a profit or a loss by hovering your mouse over the "i" icon next to the Buy button. The goal is... I dunno, just get a lot of cash and try to always sell at a profit. There's also a small chance for the stock value to have a random sharp increase or decrease, so watch out for that.
I was inspired to make this because I was learning about investing in my personal finance class and I thought "hey that would be a fun game to make". Here's a challenge: Try to get more than $5 million. It shouldn't be that hard. I suggest using the Adjust Speed slider to your advantage. I know, I'm a horrible person and I ruined the game. - v1.2 (30 Aug 2023): Clicking the minus button next to the number of shares to sell when the number is 0 now sets it to the total amount of shares you own. Likewise, clicking the minus button next to the number of shares to buy when the number is 0 now sets it to the maximum possible number of shares you can buy at the current value.
