So I've had Wildfire for a long time, she was one of my first ever OCs when I got into the Wings of Fire fandom almost 4 years ago. I have sadly lost the original 2 pieces that I drew of Wildfire, though. This has been one wild ride, and I look forward to Wildfire having a bright future. HISTORY When I first started drawing Wings of Fire and dragons in general, my friend's older sister was a big inspiration to me, and she gave me the motivation to be able to start drawing in the first place! (Thanks Juliet & Elizabeth, Y'all are awesome!) I began with drawing mainly hybrids, and Wildfire was probably my third or fourth ever character. I wanted to use a Skywing and a Leafwing, so I decided to combine them into a red and green OC who would be dominantly Skywing with some Leafwing traits. (This would later be swapped for a Leafwing with Skywing traits.) At one point I even based her off a maple leaf, but that ended fast. Her original design was nothing like her newest design, and Wildfire has changed a ton over the past few years. My oldest art that I have of Wildfire is of her original backstory, which can still be accessed on my older projects. Wildfire's old backstory involved her betraying the Leafwings for the Skywings and standing up to the one who teased her most, Fern. That was her backstory for around a year, maybe less. I drew a piece of art or two of her in between that and my next big project with her, and her design changed as well. This next design included a lot more jewelery and no yellow scales, but that whole idea was scrapped. I didn't touch Wildfire for a long time after this design change, but little did I know what was coming next.. OVERLOAD My sister came out with a song a few months ago, and that song sparked a memory of Wildfire into my brain. A few days after that idea sparked, I started planning out my first original animation meme and Wildfire's complete overhaul. With a burst of motivation I got about halfway through the animation meme, speeding through the intro and first 2 frames. I decided to completely change Wildfire's design and backstory. I gave her a ripped ear, new scale patterns, slightly different coloring, etc. Her new backstory still involved Fern, but Fern switched roles. Instead of the antagonist, she was Wildfire's best friend. Fern helped her through the bullying she was experiencing, but Wildfire still burnt down the forest and nearly k1ll3d Fern in the process, leaving Fern scarred and traumatized. (This is later expressed in my Invisible thumbnail art, but back to the animation meme.) After another few months of losing hope on the animation meme, I finally picked it back up. I finished the work-in-progress of the third frame, and soon after finished the last frame in the main animation, and made the final frames needed to complete the animation meme. With my original inspiration & idea, I began the coding. I finished the majority of the coding late at night before bed, but I completed the coding during advisory at school, the same time my sister made Overload. It was right when I was about to post Overload to Scratch that I realized I didn't have a thumbnail. That afternoon when I came home, I ran to my drawing tablet and whipped up a gorgeous thumbnail and description for Overload. With that, I pressed the share button, and a new era began. BECOMING A SONA Soon after posting overload, it began to get a large amount of views and people complimenting Wildfire herself. With this, I began drawing her more and she soon became another character I used to represent myself in animations, just like Fog, Dragonfruit and Storm. To this day, I still make art of Wildfire frequently and continue to use her as my sona. Thank you so much for sticking around to the end of this, I appreciate your support so much.
