Whilst investigating the death of a local scientist, an Anxious friend called Nebula Vamir uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, Painful Syringe circulating throughout Zyrhia. As soon as anyone uses the Syringe, he or she has exactly 78 days left to live. The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they look distorted. A marked person feels like a Dark wolf to touch. Nebula gets hold of the Syringe, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into her mind: a Horrifying wasp balancing on a scientist, an old newspaper headline about a horrifying accident, a hooded fox ranting about ears and a drinking well located in a cold place. *Laughs* When Nebula notices her Claws have wolf-like properties, she realizes that the curse of the Painful Syringe is true and calls in her friend, a caretaker called Doodle Winston, to help. Doodle examines the Syringe and willingly submits himself to the curse. He finds that the same visions flash before his eyes. He finds the Horrifying wasp balancing on a scientist particularly chilling. He joins the queue for a supernatural death. *Laugs again* Nebula and Doodle pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with a search for the hooded fox. Will they be able to stop the curse before their time is up?
