Mangotail was born as a rogue and lived and hunted with his father, Shrike. Right from the moment he could walk, Mangotail knew that Shrike was no caring cat. Shrike was cruel. And he was cunning. Shrike was so skilled at stealing, he couldn’t even hunt that well anymore, and encouraged Mangotail to do the same. Mangotail had never known any other cat, since Shrike kept him away from them, so he listened to whatever Shrike told him to do, following the belief that Shrike actually cared about him. It was when Mangotail was near adult when things tipped off. Mangotail had always wondered why Shrike, stone gray with icy blue eyes, looked nothing like him. Once he had asked, and Shrike had coldly responded, it was due to genetics. Now, Mangotail knew that could have been true, but after watching him steal and kill, Mangotail at this point knew that Shrike was a liar. He kept quiet until the moment that Shrike attacked a she-cat and her kit. “You don’t care! You never have!” Those were the words Mangotail had told Shrike. Shrike had actually been traveling with that she-cat for a while until he for some reason that wasn’t yet apparent to Mangotail, killed her kit. *piece of Mangotail’s Journey, Upcoming fanbook* Scritter stared in horror at Shrike’s bloody muzzle. This had gone to far. “What did you do?” Scritter choked. Shrike smirked. “There was dumb she-cat and her kit.” Shrike said annoyedly. “You mean-“ Scritter’s Sentence was cut off. “Yes I did. You really care? I though you were…braver…than that.” Memories of him and Shrike where flashing through Scritter’s mind. Scritter brought up all his courage. “Yes, I do care. And I’m braver than most cats, Shrike.” Shrike narrowed his eyes Scritter almost never called Shrike by his real name. “Your’e no son of mine.” He hissed. This time Scritter’s time to be mad. “Oh really? I have too much of a heart so you disown me because of it?” Scritter lashed his tail. “Oh no, it’s not that.” Shrike stared smugly at Scritter. “You don’t belong to me. I stole you away when you where just a tiny kit.” Shrike’s smile became even more smug. Scritter was horrified. “When you were born,” Shrike continued, “you were the perfect little kit. A little hunter and fighter. It was just what I needed. Your mother- Ha! She abandoned you after I took you away. Foolish she-cat.” He paused, licking the blood off his lips. “But I guess I don’t need you anymore.” Shrike said nastily, his claws unsheathing. “Wait! Father!” Scritter fumbled over his words, desperately trying to convince Shrike to listen. “How many other kits did you steal?” Shrike smiled, showing all his teeth. “Oh so many. Poor, poor kits, taken away fro their mother at such and early age.” Shrike said with fake sadness. “Of course, they had a little…test to pass, so unfortunate that they. All. FAILED.” Shrike somehow managed to add an extra dose of nasty menace. Shrike unsheathed his claws, readying hid haunches to spring. But Scritter was quicker. He dodged as Shrike landed on air. Scritter then pounced, but missed as Shrike played the same clever trick that Scritter had used on him. “Useless kit.” Shrike snarled. “You where always destined to die.” Scritter and Shrike faced off, circling eachother. ‘I hope this works.’ Scritter thought nervously. He lifted his paw above Shrike’s head, and the tom instinctively looks up. With his other paw, Scritter tripped Shrike with a blow to his legs. Dust blew everywhere as the dark tom stumbled and fell. Scritter wasted no time and jumped on top, tearing at Shrike’s throat. Finally, the treacherous tom’s eyes rolled to the back of his head, and the steady sound of his shallow breathing stopped entirely. Ta-Daaaaa that was the preview. Anyway, after that, Mangotail went to LeopardClan and got renamed his currant name, and then…yeah. That’s his history. UPDATE** He also became mates with Lightpelt
