Zero Pt.1 Two years later… “Move in for the kill! That tech is gonna fetch a hefty bounty!” My squad circled a small group of robots. Sirens blared on in the background, but we didn’t care. As long as we got the machinery, made it out alive, got at least a hundred bucks, and were able to leave the city and, head off for Mystic Jungle, then we were fine. Then he came out onto the battlefield: Doctor Ivo Robotnik himself. Holding a ruby of at least a thousand carats! I couldn’t help myself. “Boost me up! I want that ruby!” Quickly, my good friends, Uno and Deux, put out their hands as if we were doing a cheerleading stunt. I leaped on and they lifted me up. At my highest, I jumped for the doctor and his ruby. But, as soon as I touched it, I had a vision: the city was in ruins, ablaze. I was in the middle of the chaos, causing all the destruction and wreaking havoc upon everything around me. What most people will tell you is that I wanted the destruction. But, what I truly saw was the power. It wasn’t the destruction itself that intrigued me. It was what was causing it. Me. When I took my hand off, everything vanished. “What was that!?” I asked the Doctor. “An illusion, my little jackal friend. But, I can make that illusion reality!” He grinned so big, I thought he was an illusion himself, “On ONE condition: you and your squad join me as mercenaries.” I thought a bit, then replied: “I’ll do it.” “Good!” “No!” Deux hollered, “If you join him, BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN!!!” “I accept his offer,” I responded over the distance between us, “Now ACCEPT MY DECISION!!!” “Fine.” “That’s the spirit, Deux!” Things were going to work out. Or so I thought. Pt. 2 “So,” the Doctor began, telling us our first assignment, “You six are going to protect one of my bases at the Chemical Plant. Just warning you, an old creation of my grandpa Gerald’s own design, Project Shadow, may attack you. Be prepared for whatever that idiot may throw at you.” “We will do as you wish,” I said to my new boss. “Oh, and one more thing…” “What?” “The gem I had earlier, I need more ideas for its power. And a name.” “Hmmm, powers… teleportation, perfect transformation, portal to Null Space, and ability to summon the Forces.” “The what!?” “The Forces! You know, Chaos, Control, War, Peace, Life, and Death.” “I can try.” “Shano-Po.” “What?” “Nothing. Needs a name.” “Phantom Ruby.” (To be continued when I have time!)
