OC info (you can change if you win the character!): Name: Willowriver Nickname: River Pronouns: They/them, she/her, it/it's, Willow/Willowself Personality: Thoughtful, kind, mature and independent but cryptic/loner Romantic orientation: Sexual orientation: Asexual Genre: Fantasy Theme song/s: Ocean Eyes and Willow - Vaguely catlike in movement and physique, if not attitude. - Something of a cryptid in the willow-forests they reside. - A healer, the leaf-crowns on it's body (forehead and ankles) are rumored to be able to heal any sickness or injury, this makes Willowriver a very sought-after creature. Some rumor that it's not the leaves of the cryptid, but the water that makes up part of it's body - and that for the river not to disappear it must be given up willingly. - There are rumors that Willowriver acts like something of a unicorn from folktales, approaching pure-hearted maidens in the woods. These rumours are unproven, but may have stemmed from Brightwind. - One moment, Willow will be standing in the river across from you, you see them clearly for a few seconds and lock eyes before the breeze blows past and the willows obscure your view. When you next look, the majestic creature has disappeared - leaving only the lingering scent of fresh healing herbs and the feeling of clean water in their wake. - Some locals report occasionally seeing an elven, goddess-like figure with hair like sunbeams atop Willowriver's back. - Yes, it's a demi-deity. Their domain only covers willow trees and rivers, so they're not the broadest or most powerful child-of-a-deity, but they're still a formidable force if crossed. - While I was designing I lowkey thought she'd make a good water/grass pokemon. This would either be their third or second evolution, or maybe they'd be a legendary pokemon that couldn't evolve but you can only find it in willow-forests with rivers or something. Interesting food for thought. Height: Changes (can be anywhere from a large-dog, medium-sized-horse to at least twice/three-times the size of the average human. Changes depending on situation and general mood) Extra details: - Quadrupedal, cannot go bipedal - Flowy blue neck/tail/ears are water, they can be inconsistent - Disconnected water 'streaks' leave a trail behind them, but they fade away after a couple seconds Backstory: Willowriver was created as the child of Salix (nymph of willow trees) and Rivus (god of rivers), because they were both males and didn't want to biologically bear children. For the first few years of their life, River's fathers took good care of them and it grew up in a caring, empathetic and compassionate home. Being born in the land of the deities, Willowriver learned many trades by following various gods and goddesses as they worked. She learned natural remedies from Sano - deity of healing - and how to avoid detection by Caecus - god of the blind. Eventually, River grew into independence and left the land of deities to find their own path in the worlds of mortals and magic... They settled down, avoiding all humans and the other races - elves, dwarves, orcs, merpeople, all those folks - but soon found she'd become very, very lonely. One day, as she wandered towards the gateway to the deities' domain to seek advice from her fathers, it came across another demi-deity... Brightwind, a beautiful elven demigoddess born from the union of Aura (goddess of winds) and Apricum (goddess of sunlight and farming), who was facing the exact same problem. Willowriver and Brightwind talked, finding they had a lot in common. The pair decided they'd become friends and visit eachother whenever they fell on hard times or were lonely. Eventually, [protagonist/s] stumble across her willow-forest. They come to the river which winds through it. Willowriver appears, challenging [protagonist/s] as to why they are here in her domain. Upon hearing [protagonist/s]'s story, Willow thinks for some time. She tells [protag/s] that she will allow them to pass through it's domain - if they can find the shining pearl that is somewhere in the willow-forest and return it to her... After some time, [protag/s] find the pearl in the silt at the bottom of the river amid the roots of the sickest, weakest-looking willow-tree in the forest. They locate the demi-deity and she gracefully accepts the pearl and allows them passage, wishing them well on their [journey/quest/plot] and asking that if they find a demi-goddess by the name of Brightwind to tell her that the pearl has been found.
