This is a coloring contest, so color away! Rules 1. Read all the Instructions. I know it's a pain, but please do. There is no codeword, I am trusting you all to read these. 2. you may not make the lineart unrecognizable. You may change it some, but please make it at least resemble the original lineart. 3. No copying anyone else 4. No being mean - to other people, or to your own entry. No putting yourself down! 5. Credit me for the lineart. (just humor me and my paranoia on this, okay?) 6. Have fun doing this! CCs are supposed to be fun, not a chore! Tips 1. effort. Filling in all the stray pixels, taking your time, definitely makes it better. 2. background. While I will mostly be judging on the coloring of the cat, backgrounds DEFINITELY help. (which is why my complete inability to draw backgrounds annoys me) it doesn't have to be 'good,' any background at all gives me context and a better feel to it 3. shading. Definitely shows effort, and ability to imagine the physical shape of something flat. I find it impressive, anyways. Not required, but good to do. 4. Use a different program. You don't have to, but it makes it a lot easier to get the look you want, so I'd suggest it. There are some free ones to download, such as FireAlpaca or MediBang Paint, and I know there are some free online ones too. 5. Add a story! While I will mostly be judging on the coloring, I love good stories too. It doesn't have to be well-written either, just being there gives me some context~ 6. cool designs. The cat doesn't have to be realistic. It can be realistic, or unrealistic. But one thing I LOVE is cool designs~ makes my day whenever I see an awesomely designed OC. 7. Add a song! Pick one that fits, pick one that sounds cool, pick one you like - pick any song! (I really love music XD whether it's relevant or not) not sure if it'll effect my judging or not I am really weird, so do whatever, really. If you want the original, you'll have to listen to it elsewhere. Cat: Seilah (new OC, mine) Name Meaning: Means 'wise soul' in the ancient language of the realm the story takes place in. Story (up to this scene): Seilah was born normal. In fact, in this realm, everyone was once normal, no matter how abnormal their parents were. Seilah, when born, was a simple gray cat. No wings. No specks. But, as was expected, her wings started to grow as she did. You see, everyone has an abnormality, be it as small as rainbow colored eyes, or as big as the power to control the environment with one's mind. While still young, Seilah started to fall in love with another cat by the name of Franzich (meaning smooth-talker), who still had yet to find his abnormality. They spent a lot of time together, they got in trouble together, and they both confessed their love for each other at their favorite place; a hidden cave about halfway up the nearby mountain. But society has its needs, and a ranking system was set up to determine how important one's abnormalities were to everyone else. While Seilah's wings were ranked low due to her inability to carry a lot at one time, Franzich's lack of abnormality made him lower than the low. And society has an important rule: Inability to help change society for the better will result in death. Franzich had two years to either find his abnormality or help society. Otherwise, he would die. Seilah, frantically trying to save her love, offers to fly both of them away from society, to leave and become loners. She also explains how she had known that society was terrible, tearing apart families just to show power. Unbeknownst to her, though, Franzich already knew this, and he had made a deal with the leaders: If anyone talks about leaving, turn them in. In exchange, their abnormality would be transferred to Franzich, saving his life. (And were taking a random break in the story to remind you that Seilah's fur, if you've forgotten, is currently just plain gray. No lines or specks.) Franzich made a plan to lure Seilah to the leaders. A few days after their conversation, he pretended to be dragged away to be killed. Seilah, against her gut's feeling, chased after him only to be trapped. Shocked at her love's betrayal, Seilah was rendered immobile as everything was prepared to transfer her wings to Franzich until something kicked her back into gear. She tried to fly away, but the leaders had put weights at the ends of her wings. They dragged her down, making her unable to move much without pain. As the transferring started, her fur started to change. Darker gray specks accumulated around her body, and the weights were moved off her wings by an invisible force. After flying out of reach, she looked down to see that Franzich, who had once had the same fur pattern as she now had, was now a simple ginger cat. He was on the ground, barely alive. Seilah realized that they must've accidentally transferred Franzich's power to her, and that his abnormality was a protection abnormality. Seilah managed to fly to their cave before realizing that, now definitely without an abnormality, Franzich would be killed no matter what. Though the cave was deemed empty by society when they started looking for her, you could still hear her cries of grief echoing throughout the mountain caves.
