Idk she's pretty old o Occupation: War veteran, she's a caretaker at the moment o Abilities: She can breathe fire and set herself alight (due to the location she was raised in) is an excellent warfare strategist, she's logical/rational and she is also a very skilled fighter (pfffff this is so cliche lmao) Personality: She's pretty reserved and has a few close friends. She seems grumpy most of the time and probably is, but is very loyal and caring when she has to be. She's also a great fighter which is cool. Somehow she can smile but she's pretty sarcastic and won't be afraid to express her opinion if she has to. Honestly I think in my head I would imagine Tektite to have a similar personality to the Manticore in Onward (if you've watched it) 'You'd better behave or I'll roast you until you've turned into a lump of coal.' - Tektite Likes: Storming around bossing people, clean spaces, setting things on fire if she has to, skulking around after dark, crowd fights, swords, lanterns, card games Dislikes: Petty people with their 'attitudes', people who make fun of others for no good reason ==> Backstory and detailed bio (The comic has a little story segment but it lacks a lot of context so here we go) Tektite was born on an ash-ridden volcanic region near the coasts of Atlantia (forgive me with the bad names) She was raised near a mud spring and because of the heat, she could tolerate higher temperatures than normal dragons, but it also made her scales jet-black and it gave her a charred-looking appearance. It was during her earlier years that she discovered her passion for architecture and combat, as the area where she lived was littered with ruins of castles and other ancient structures that were half buried in the mud, basalt and lava. At this time Tektite enjoyed forging weapons with her father, as it was mandatory for every citizen of the nation to own a weapon of some sort, whether it be an axe, sword or spear. (warfare was important in the nation's culture) Her father was a blacksmith. Tektite took the military and warfare course at school (let's just call it that for now) and proved to be a gifted strategist, but also kept pursuing her interests for architecture and history. In her final year she finally forged her personal combat weapon, a sword called Deathsniper. At the age of twenty Tektite graduated from the local school, but was conscripted into the army due to an unsettled dispute Atlantia had with a neighboring country, which led to a sudden flare in violent conflicts. Sometimes civil war broke out because of the tax and food rations that were supposed to be handed out by the generals residing in local towns but never did. Most were quickly stopped by the ruling government because of more serious issues at hand, but the nation was in a time of turbulence and instability, and there was a significant economic downfall. As Tektite joined the army, she met another young member like her, called Sandtail (Sandtail is some kind of mongoose by the way). They had a lot in common, both being aspiring architects and soldiers, both new and inexperienced with the army, but both having a thirst for 'adventure'. (cliche!) They soon developed a strong friendship/bond with each other over many battles, with Tektite eventually agreeing to a vow that they protect each other at all costs during the war. As the fighting waged on, both Tektite and Sandtail became increasingly experienced, and Sandtail was eventually promoted to a commander, while Tektite earned a reputation of being one of the most valuable and skilled frontline fighters. She was excellent with close range weapons such as axes, swords and spears, and her charred and tough scales were hard to penetrate, meaning that she ended up with significantly less injuries than other fighters. After five years of fighting it soon became clear that the nation had ran out of resources to keep the army going, and CONTINUED DOWN BELOW
CONTINUED Atlantia had to call on a temporary surrender/truce. The nation had been drained of money and supplies, and it was in great debt. The soldiers were ordered to go home, but not to forget their military training. It was during this time that Sandtail and Tektite parted, and Sandtail fell in love, with another mongoose named Barface. But all too soon Atlantia was at war again. A guerilla attack had commenced on the coast of the neighboring nation and war was declared, again upon the already weakened and starving nation. On the bright side, however, Sandtail and Tektite were reunited, only after being separated for three years. In the first few weeks of recommenced warfare everything went smoothly, but when Sandtail told of his engagement with Barface, Tektite was less than overjoyed. She tried to pull a straight face, but behind Sandtail she developed a sense of paranoia and fear, frightened that this relationship will get in the way of her friendship with Sandtail. Soon the two friends started to argue, with Sandtail being confused and sad and Tektite being frustrated and angry. This conflict made Sandtail careless, and eventually, and unfortunately, as he did not stand guard with care one night, he took a fatal wound from the enemy's ambush, and inevitably, died. After hearing the appalling news Tektite was devastated, and realized her mistake leading to Sandtail's death. Already weakened by previous fighting, Atlantia soon had to surrender again, ending in total, a twelve year's worth of war. However, Tektite didn't return home. She learnt of the whereabouts of Sandtail's home village and settled down there instead, vowing to protect the future generations of his family for the rest of her life to make up for her wrongs, which she has already done for quite a few decades. Nowadays Tektite is a grumpy caretaker at a castle (where she studies the architectural layout of it) and loves yelling at the immature young residents. Her current goal is to watch over Sharptoes, one of Sandtail's grandchildren who resides in this towering structure. Anyways that's the end of the backstory! I love thinking about the backstory and bio of certain characters as sometimes I instantly know what kind of personality a design gives off!
