Waking up at seven am for school might seem late for some people, but after waking up at eight or nine in the morning for the whole summer, it seemed ridiculously early. The twins seemed just as tired and groggy as I was when I opened my dorm door to wait in the hallway. Once Naomi, Calli, and Shadow came out, the six of us went to eat breakfast. After a quick breakfast of cereal and orange juice, we headed to our first class, eight am Enchanting. Professor Ryan introduced a new kind of enchanting - enchanting potion ingredients to change the effects of said potions. In our next class, Potions, Professor Brooks had us use the ingredients we enchanted in Enchanting to make a successful potion. I decided to make a potion of night vision, a potion with the recipe of a poison potion but with enchanted munevera root instead of normal. At nine am, we went to History with Professor Wilson. Last year we’d learned the history of our world and Earth, so this year we’d be branching out to two other worlds - the world of the Elves and the world of the Dorke. After History came Spell-Casting. Professor Glinda did a brief review of the spells we’d learned last year, and introduced a new one in the last twenty minutes of class. We teamed up with partners (Naomi and I, Brazen and Harlow, and Shadow and Calli) and practiced a new spell that Professor Glinda called the Mind Bind. “I’ve done this before,” Naomi told me as we began to practice. “Remember the fight with Cozbi?” I nodded. “How could I forget?” “I used a much simpler version of this spell to connect us so that you could reach me without me having to start the conversation. It required contact, though, and relied heavily on my Memoriac abilities.” I nodded. “So this one is more effective, too?” “Yeah. We could only have short conversations through the simple one, but through this one you could have longer conversations and share memories or even feelings.” She smiled. “I’m gonna have to remove that old link if we’re going to put in this one.” I nodded. “Go ahead.” She didn’t appear to do anything, but within a few seconds a distant feeling in my mind faded. I hadn’t even realized it was there until it was gone, leaving an empty space behind. We got the Mind Bind set up, then went to our next class, Creative Writing or Literacy, depending on who you were. Brazen, Calli, and I went to Creative Writing, where we pretty much had a free write period. At ten-thirty we had Healing. We’d had Professor Malone for the past two years, but this year we got Professor Gallow. We learned a new spell - one that could heal werewolf bites. I’d nearly had a heart attack when Professor Gallow announced it. If you’d been bitten by a werewolf on the full moon, you could cast this spell within three hours of being bitten and you’d be free of the curse. Seeing as how I’d been a werewolf for almost fourteen years, this would definitely not work on me. After Healing came lunch, then Math right after. The final class before our break was Astronomy. The break lasted from one-thirty to two-thirty, then we had Survival Class, taught by Professor Janet. Survival Class completed, we ate dinner, then went to our dorms to finish up any work and eventually sleep. This routine had been the same for my entire WSoM experience. I’d never thought something would have the power to change it, let alone stop it entirely.
