You can make anything a friend if you’re lonely enough, even the chains that bind you to the walls. You can sing together, talk together, and even write together, right? Maybe not, maybe the exhaustion of being used to make gold gets to the mind and rots it. Corrodes it. Chisels at it until it turns to dust. But…To the point where you make imaginary friends with the very room that you’re in? Not likely. Every single day, liquid Gold drips from my fingertips onto a steel platter… every second feels like an eternity, I can’t decide whether this is prison or t0rtu3re. Every drop takes a bit of me along with it, first my energy, then my fat, then my muscle, then my bones… Then my life. The pain is almost unbearable, no matter what I do, it burns, it feels like I’ve been left in a blazing house to die alone. But I'm not alone. The chains are my friends, if you’re quiet enough you can hear their whispers. “You can do it! You can get out of here! All you need to do is kill us! Then you’ll be free!” They always say that… but, I can’t bring myself to kill my friends, but I have to, right? There are no other options, it’s them or me, I’d rather have it be them. Instead of gold dripping from my fingertips, there now lies a file in my hands… “Goodbye friends” Are my last words to them before I cut them in two. File to bomb, captivity to freedom. The walls crumble before the destructive force of the bomb and I dash for the nearest hospital. However, my legs can old carry on for so long until I inevitably collapse helplessly on the sidewalk. I can’t move anymore… I can’t breathe anymore… I think I’m dead? Am I?
