Get ready, as I compare Family Channel's classic era and their modern era. C = Classic (1988-2015) M = Modern (2015-present) 1. Commercial Break C: Family aired their shows WITHOUT commercials. Instead, they show promos for their shows, promos for their movies that they’ll be airing, shorts between the shows, interviews for upcoming movies (i.e. Disney's Movie Surfers) and Disney-related music videos (in a little interstitial Family calls it "Fam Jam"). M: Like regular Canadian TV network, Family plays commercial ads (not just promos for their shows and movies) before and after their shows. 2. Programming: C: They had original programming like Life with Derek, Franny's Feet, Franklin (Before Treehouse took it and aired the final season of that show.) and Katie and Orbie (which is my most favourite Family original series). They also aired acquired series like Elmo's World, the 2002-2005/Relaunch of the Nickelodeon series "All That" (That’s when other Nickelodeon stuff like Zoey 101 and Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide to be brought over to Family, instead of YTV.), ALF, etc. But most of their programming content that they aired is from Disney. In fact in Family airs Disney movies in their movie block called "Popcorn Pix". (They also show movies from other companies like Warner Bros.) M: Their programming content comes from both WildBrain (specifically the fact that they own Family, since 2015) and DreamWorks Animation (specifically their shows that they made for both Peacock and Netflix). However they replayed reruns of their original series which are Life with Derek and the 1999 revival of "Are You Afraid of the Dark?". (Since WildBrain owns the franchise outside of Nickelodeon besides the 2019 revival, Family ALSO airs the original series.) They also airs acquired sitcoms (Gilmore Girls and Family Matters). Oh, and what movies does Family plays? Simple: No Disney movies! There you have it the comparison between Classic Family and Modern Family. And Modern Family wouldn’t have happened if freaking Astral Media sold it to WildBrain. NICE GOING, BELL MEDIA! >:(
