You may have noticed that some parts of the design look like butterflies: it was intentional. Half of his face looks old and decaying(symbolizing death), while the other half looks young and refreshed(symbolizing rebirth/rejuvenation). His white jacket is supposed to look like angel wings and his robe like a ghost.
