Title : Lift-Sim 2022 : R.I.P. !!!! EPIC MOTOR !!!! Very rare original 1957 Harrington Hydraulic Lift… Brand : Harrington Hiss. Built : 1957. Type : Inground Telescoped Hydraulic, relay controller with full-memory and transistor-relays. Starter type : Solid state. Location : Blôrk-Hotel Premium Södra Ankargatan, 15, Umeå, Sweden. My opinion : This lift is really nice and incredibly rare ! It has a really nice motor sound but the hydraulics are very loud ! In the motor room, it’s got a modern power supply which is buzzing because the single phase and 3-phase voltages which used to be 220 volts and 380 volts (The equipment is designed in the UK and it tolerates the UK’s voltages which were 240 volts (Single phase voltage) and 415 volts (3-phase voltage) and the other european voltages which were 220 and 380 volts. Now, both voltages are 230 V (Single phase) and 400 V (3-phase)), now they are converted to 230 and 400 V but the power supply doesn’t wear very much and it is safer than the older power supply which was installed in 1957 together with this lift and when the Hotel has been fully renovated in 2007, the power supply has been replaced with this one. The lift has a super wierd logic which uses transistor-relays (All of the Harrington’s logic from 1953 uses this system and these logics are considered as the ancestors of the microprocessor controllers which are used on modern day lifts), it has full-memory but the lift returns straight to the lowest floor each time after it has served any floor which is higher than the lowest floor). This lift is very slow (0.5 m/s) and it’s used as a service/ passenger lift. The stop button has been replaced with a keyswitch which turns on and off the lift and it has been replaced with a keyswitch because a stop button is useless in a lift with automatic sliding doors and inner doors. Unfortunately, the logic and the pump are starting to wear out after 65 years of service (This is a super long life for a hydraulic lift) because the time has come and OTIS will modernize it with Sodimas parts and generic parts (This one is maintained by OTIS but the another one is maintained by KONE). They will start to modernize it the 15th November 2022. This mod includes : - New Sodimas panels, buttons, door mechanism, logic controller and absolute positioning system. - New generic dot-matrix indicators, roped hydraulic pistons, hydraulic pipes, pump, valve, soft-starter, cab and other components.
