(I just made this story up. This isn’t really Flairwind’s real backstory) (Blood warning in the story) “Hey, Falconwing! I caught a rabbit!” an orange, fox-like she-cat called. “Nice!” Falconwing emerged from one of the bushes, two mice hanging from his jaws. “Wow! That’s a really plump rabbit." Flairwind shrugged. “I was just lucky.” “At least you’ve improved at hunting,” the brown tabby tom purred affectionately. Flairwind gazed up at the vast sky, now tinged with orange. The sun was setting. Falconwing followed her gaze. “We should go. It’s getting dark.” “Scaredy cat,” Flairwind teased. “I am not!” “Come on, Falconwing. Won’t it be fun to stay here for a while? Just imagine all the stars that come out at night.” Falconwing nuzzled her affectionately. “I guess we could, if you want to…” It was nightime. The two lovers were lying down on the soft grass, gazing at the vast, beautiful night sky. “It’s so pretty,” Flairwind breathed. “I know.” Suddenly, there was a rustle in one of the bushes. Both of them stood up, alarmed. “What was that?” Falconwing’s eyes widened. Flairwind unsheathed her claws. “Wolf.” “A wolf? But how-“ Falconwing’s sentence was interrupted as the wolf attacked him. “Falconwing!” Flairwind pounced on the wolf, raking her claws on the wolf’s back. The wolf howled in pain, letting go of Falconwing. Falconwing struggled to his paws, clearly winded. Flairwind hissed at the wolf, and then pounced on it again, managing to tear it’s ear. “Ha! I’m going to teach you a lesson, wolf!” Flairwind said triumphantly. “Flairwind, look out!” screeched Falconwing. Flairwind turned around. “Wha-“ a second, more powerful wolf, gripped the scruff of Flairwind and shook her violently, then throwing her at a nearby tree. Flairwind hit the hard bark hard, then slumped to the ground. The other wolf whimpered and then disappeared into the trees. “Flairwind!” Falconwing launched himself at the second wolf, raking his claws on it’s back. The wolf howled, then shook him off, pouncing at the brown tabby warrior, clawing at the young cat’s chest. Falconwing screeched in agony. At last, Flairwind managed to get to her paws, still dizzy. Upon seeing Falconwing losing, she quickly launched herself at the wolf and raked her claws at it’s side. The wolf howled, then, releasing it’s grip from Falconwing, turned on Flairwind, pouncing on her. Unable to escape the wolf’s powerful grip, Flairwind managed to slice at the wolf’s belly, opening a deep cut. The wolf howled in agony, then released Flairwind and stumbled into the shadows. Flairwind then rushed to Falconwing. He had a deep gash from his side and claw marks at his chest. His eyes were closed. “Falconwing! Please, wake up!” Falconwing’s eyes fluttered open. “Wha- the wolves..” Falcon wing struggled to his paws, then winced as more blood rushed out of his wounds. “Are you okay?” Flairwind helped him up. “Not really,” Falconwing said, looking at his wounds. “We need to take you to a medicine cat. Can you walk?” Flairwind looked at him worriedly. She only had a few bruises and scratches. “Yes, I think I can,” Falconwing grunted. "Come on! We’re almost there!” Flairwind urged. “I-i can’t….I’ve lost too much blood.” Falconwing winced in pain as he stumbled over a rock, collapsing in exhaustion. Blood flowed from the deep gash on his side. “Falconwing!” the orange she-cat rushed to his side. “Please! Hang in there while I get the medicine cat!"” “I-i-i’m sorry, Flairwind.” the young tom’s voice was now a mere whisper.”I won’t make it.” “No!! Please!! Don’t die!!” Flairwind broke into a sob. “I love you..” A shudder rippled through Falconwing’s body, then all was still. “Falconwing! No!” Flairwind screeched. “Don’t leave me!” Flairwind sobbed. She gazed at Falconwing’s body in despair. This was all her fault. No, this was even more the wolves’s fault! Now Falconwing was dead. Because of them. Suddenly, all the grief and anger spilled out of her, unleashing angry red flames, spreading out and burning the entire forest down. But nothing she did could bring Falconwing back.
Sorry if the story doesn’t make any sense, like, “Why didn’t she just use her fire powers to scare the wolves out of their fur, and leave them alone?” But you see, Flairwind didn’t even know she had the element of fire. It was only then that she had discovered it. Oh and also, when I mean medicine cat in the story, I don’t mean the warrior cats kind. basicly it’s just a cat who has the skills of a medicine cat. And neither Flairwind or Falconwing belonged in a clan, to clear things up. Credit to @Shadowstar12 for the lineart ^^ Credit to whoever Nightcored this song!
