One morning, the Triceratops was about to pick up a small clump of leaves from the other side of the lake when he heard a small hiss in front of him. The female Thescelosaurus was in front of him, and she did not seem to allow him near this area. The Triceratops tried to pick the leaves up, but she simply hissed again. Eventually, the ceratopsian realized why: her clan was nesting nearby, and she had deemed that he had gotten a little too close to her nest. He simply walked away as the small herbivore turned back to tend to her nest. When the Triceratops returned, he spotted different male dinosaurs competing for a female on the other side of the lake, who was sitting on a fallen log. These are Pachycephalosaurus, dinosaurs famous for their dome-shaped skulls. A male, also known as a billy, can grow up to a length of 4.5 metres, while the females, also known as a doe, grow only to 3 metres long. It is hard to believe that these dinosaurs are one of the closest relatives to the Triceratops, as both of these animals' families fall into the same clade of reptiles: Marginocephalia. Their heads are used for what they were about to do. The Triceratops knew what was coming, as he had seen it multiple times in the past. The two males suddenly charge forward and bash their heads together, making a huge bang that echoes the swamp, startling one of the water's residents. The male Champsosaurus had hauled himself onto land to rest, and the sound causes him to panic and dive back into the lake. The male Pachycephalosaurus continue to do this multiple times before one of them is sent crashing to the ground. The victorious billy turns towards the females as his opponent retreated into the plains.
