9/27/22 Ok, I´ll start this journal off with a brief introduction. My name´s Hikari, and since lately my life´s been kinda boring, I decided to start journaling. I´m 15 years old (16 in a month!), and I have just started my sophomore year. A few years ago, I had a summer when I started to do Pokemon with my friends. We got quite good at it, and even defeated Cynthia, the champion..for that reason, many people consider me and my friends famous, but I try not to think about that. I have an Empoleon! His name is Pip and I love him! Anyway, today has felt a bit weird. There seems to be an aura chasing me around, but my mother told me to just shake it off. Usually I scare myself for no reason, so it's probably fine. Anyway, I´m about to fall asleep, so I think this is a good time to close out. See ya tomorrow! ^V^ -Hikari - Crisp, salty air. The sense of something gritty on my feet, and the serene splashing of waves.. ¨What the Distortion World is that outfit? What an odd material of pants..and, is that an image painted on the shirt?¨ ¨Quiet, Rei. Their clothing is the least of our worries. Do..they look alive to you?¨ ¨GASP! We've found a dead corpse washed up on the beach! What if it's CURSED? Those symbols on their shirt look a lot like Gira-¨ ¨REI! We don't talk like this on the job.¨ Two figures..towering above me. A plump, bearded man. He wore a large white coat, and a lavender-colored hat. A young, loud boy..with a strange, strange, uniform.. I was so dazed…what was this location? I strained my brain before realizing I couldn't even remember what my name was… ¨AHH! SHE'S ALIVE! SHE OPENED HER EYES!¨ ¨Sigh.." The man slapped the young boy's shoulder. ¨What will I do with you..¨ He let out a loud, bellowing laugh. ¨Hello, dearie. And, what would be your name?¨ The man reached out his right arm, signifying that he wanted to help me up. I tried to concentrate. What was my name? I heard a word echo in my head, but I could barely make it out. ¨Umm…Akari¨ I said, exhaustedly. ¨Akari..a strong name. The name of a warrior. A name of resilience…Oh! I´m getting carried away, dear. My name is Professor Laventon. This young boy is Rei. He assists me in my studies. We work for the Galaxy Corps. Rei and I are a part of the Survey Corps branch. What group would you be from? We can return you there.¨ I stumbled to my feet, my heart racing, my brain trying to figure out what these odd people just said to me. ¨Huh? What's that?¨ ¨Dear Arceus! She doesn't have a group!¨ ¨Watch your mouth, Rei! Come with me, dear.¨ The man reached out his arm yet again. ¨I will take you to our building in Jubilife.¨ He walked me through a small field, before we arrived at the location. It was a gorgeous village, intricately built above a canal. Small, traditional houses lined the streets, all connected to each other. Many fields were set up to the side, where farmers were planting crops. Covered wagons were scattered across the village, as people in brilliantly colored uniforms exchanged items with each other. People gathered near the center of the village to socialize. Young children played between the alleys and behind the houses. A giant manor towered above the village. I was so amazed by it all that I had lost track of the Professor. I paced anxiously around the village, before finally catching up to them.
¨And here we are!¨ The Galaxy Corps Building towered above me. I climbed up the stairs and entered. It was cool and airy inside, with the scents of fabric and wood wafting through. The stairs and floors were furnished with gorgeous velvet carpets. On the top floor I was confronted by their leader, Kamado. He seemed kind but strict, and handed me a trunk, which he said contained a more ¨suitable¨ outfit. I didn't open it. Rei led me to a small house I could live in. These people were starting to seem sort of nice. The house was traditional and quaint. There was a patch of sand in the front to place your shoes. There was also a sturdy wooden trunk where other supplies could be stored. The house area contained a gas fireplace, a clay jar for storing drinking water, and a bed that could be rolled out onto the floor. I opened the trunk of clothes to change. Inside was a dress made of soft, baggy, thick material. It had pockets to store small items, and the Galaxy logo on the sleeves. There was also a leather belt with a satchel attached to it, a pair of baggy socks and a pair of wicker shoes to go along with it. Finally, there was a red leather scarf and a head cloth to protect your hair. I got dressed quickly and couldn't help but wonder why the outfit was so outdoorsy and durable. I organized some things in the house to my liking, before I heard a loud banging noise on my door. I suppose this house had no doorbell.. ¨Akari, you look great! You must be hungry! Dinner is being prepared as we speak!¨ said Rei, gesturing for me to follow him along. We arrived at a hole-in-the-wall that smelled of oil and potatoes. A man wearing an oil covered apron stepped out. ¨Hello, Laventon. This is that Sky girl you were speaking of, yes?¨ Laventon nodded tiredly. ¨Shhh…she might hear you¨ I was confused as to what a Sky girl was. The old man introduced himself as Beni. The table was set for dinner. Rei was stuffing his mouth with the round things people had been referring to as potato mochi. It had a gelatinous, salty flavor, but I was so hungry at that point that everything tasted incredible. We finished off dinner with some freshly brewed tea. Everyone was getting chatty, so I tried to seem invisible.. ¨Akari! Survey work starts tomorrow, first thing in the morning.¨ ¨Survey work?¨ I began to feel cheated. I thought these people were taking me in to be nice, but now they were using me for work?! ¨Akari..oh, I didn't tell you. Money is tight lately, and no one here can really afford to pay for anything you might need. You can keep the house and clothing, but food and other necessities must be paid for with your own money. We don't make these rules, but what can I say? Hisui is a brutal, merciless land..¨ I tried to keep myself happier through the rest of the night, but all I could really do was look up at the wooden ceiling of my room. Survey work, huh? How hard could it be?
