Title : EPIC MOTOR !!! Very smooth 2002 Harrington Roped Hydraulic Elevator Credits to everyone. This one is located in the carpark on a very big shopping center which was built in the 1950’s. The whole building was completely renovated and extended between 2002 and 2009. But, they have only touched 15 old lifts and there are 300 lifts here, in total. Unfortunately, Harrington will soon replace almost all of the lifts including this one with Sodimas MRLs which are non-generics but rather boring as they are cheap but reliable but they are not too interesting as they are basic and MRL traction. Also, this is a stupid idea to replace this one as it is in a very good condition for a very very cheap 2000’s Harrington hydraulic. It runs really well, it is fast for a hydraulic, it is very smooth and it has a great motor sound ! That is very rare for a lift like this one as most of them are bumpy, unreliable, flimsy, they wear out after only a few years of service, slow and their pumps doesn’t sound good when going up despite they all have GMV hydraulics. Sadly, it will be replaced with a nice-looking but boring Sodimas bottom drive MRL ! This one is 20 years old, but this one is in a very good condition despite being a carpark lift with flimsy and rather ugly DMG B5 buttons. The door operator was replaced in 2015 by Fermator and the electric-eye (photocell) was replaced with a full-height door sensor in 2015 as well as the door operator, everything else is original. The valve is a pretty advanced version of the GMV 3010 valve with aggregate solenoids. The lift overall is good, it’s quite a bit better than a Sodimas and it is much much better than a Lester Controls lift such as a Jackson or a cheap generic hydro lift with Microsmart PLC such as an Oakland. Also, the motor room is in a half floor between the ground floor and the basement level. It has also a star-delta starter which is a bit unusual because most of the lifts like this one have a direct solid state starter which starts the lift with a big jolt as the hydraulic motor has a « direct motor startup ». The star-delta starters and soft-starters are smoother as the motor was already on before the hydraulic charges if the starter is a star-delta starter and with a soft-starter, the motor charges progressively. But with a direct solid state starter, in most of the cases, the motor « charges abruptly » and then, the cab makes a bump. The shopping center has loads and loads of various old lifts and there are Thomas B. Thrige tractions installed by Harrington and there are also some ultra rare hydraulic Thomas B. Thrige lifts !!! Unfortunately, Harrington will replace almost all of the lifts with Sodimas Bottom Drive MRL lifts !!! Only 3 lifts won’t be replaced but they will be modernized with Sodimas and generic equipment !!! So, thanks a lot to the stupid bureaucrats who just wanted for something more modern !!! The 3 modded lifts will be a Thomas B. Thrige hydraulic from 1953, a JD Ingildsen MRL hydraulic from 2006 (The pump is at the bottom of the shaft) and a Hansen Hydraulik MRL hydraulic from 2007 (The pump is in a compact cabinet).
