A few days pass and the Triceratops walks through a forest in search of food. However, this was not to feed his chicks; they hadn't hatched out of their eggs yet. Instead, each female will lay a clutch of eggs around the nest before promptly abandoning them. This process can take days to happen though, and bulls will have to gather the nutrients that they not only need to survive while incubating the eggs, but to also provide them to their mates. As he reaches a clearing, he feels the ground vibrate. Didelphodons sprint in all directions and the creature reveals himself: it was a bull Edmontosaurus, the true giant of the Cretaceous. Reaching a huge length of 12 metres and a weight of 7 tons, it is no surprise that even large predators fear him. The Triceratops ignores the massive duckbill, as they both served different the niches. The Triceratops would have a diet similar to pigs, while the Edmontosaurus would have a grazing niche, usually preying on the low lying plants on the ground. Thus, the two would avoid conflict altogether. The Triceratops picks up some food but suddenly retreats. He had smelt something approaching: the mortal fear for every herbivore of the Cretaceous. A young male Tyrannosaurus was walking a couple of metres away. His green colouring shows that, while he is still an adult, he is still not ready to breed. With powerful jaws that could crush bone and a mouth filled with banana sized teeth, it is easy to see why his species has been giving the title of 'King of the dinosaurs'. However, he wasn't here to hunt. Instead, he was simply gathering sticks for a 'practice nest'. Male Tyrannosaurus build a small nest for the female to lay her eggs in. This is what he was practicing on: building the nest. The Tyrannosaurus grabbed a small twig from the vegetation and walked back to his creation. The Triceratops simply continued back to his mates who were waiting for him.
