So, backstory time! Long ago, Sunshine was an immortal cat who was the guardian over Earth. She and her brother, Effulgence, held day and night. Together they brought the morning sky and the midnight moon to create the daylight cycle we see everyday. To Effulgence, it was unfair. All the inhabitants of earth would rise in the morning, spend time with day, but would go away at night. So Effulgence created nocturnal creatures, some in the shape of himself and some close to what he looked like. Still, Effulgence was jealous that Sunshine got much praise, so he set out to get rid of that. One morning, and Sunshine arose to bring daylight into the sky, Effulgence pounced and captured her. He put her in a cage carved of the darkest ebony wood. As soon as he did so, the world became dark and uncoloured. It was not because Sunshine was missing from the world, but because of unbalance. After many months, Effulgence released his sister. Sunshine came out and had her last word: “Why?” and she just stood there sobbing and staring. Effulgence left after staring back, and day and night returned normally. However, Sunshine never left at her spot on the cliff. She brought forth the sun and brought happiness, but never to herself.
