-{Prologue}- “Odd World! Odd World! Odd World!” The cheerful voice of excited kids chanted over and over. “Calm down, it’s still a while away!” The bus driver, Maria, called out to the 6th graders behind her. A kid started to jokingly wail, “Why could we have left earlier?” “Well, considering as we left as soon as everyone finished lunch, which is 1:30, we’d have to get up at around 5 am to be there!” Rosie replied. “No one solves an equation THAT fast!” “Mathematicians do!” “We are in 6TH GRADE! You don’t NEED to be a mathematician!” The kids went from chanting to a full blown argument about how fast someone solved an equation. This is what happens when kids are bored, ok? Hours went by like days, until someone finally said, “LOOK! I SEE THE FERRIS WHEEL!” All eyes turned to look outside and sure enough, the rides of Odd World were in the distance. “Finally! I’m exhausted!” Lapis slumped and slid down their chair while everyone else re-kindled the chant of “Odd World! Odd World! Odd World!” Lapis sat up and looked out at the sign that said “Odd World” with an arrow pointing left. Suddenly, a hand turned the arrow so that it pointed right instead. The 6th grader was about to tell Maria to go left, but before they knew it, the bus jerked right and went down a bumpy slope. “Maria, I don’t think this is the right way-” Eli began but was cut off when he flew out of his seat while the bus went started to shake violently. “KIDS, HOLD ON!” A loud crash could be heard as the bus tumbled over and all of the 6th graders started to scream. Lapis fell out of their seat and banged their head against the floor. Their ears started to ring and their vision darkened until silence fell and everything went black. “Welcome… I need your help…” Lapis opened their eye and slowly got up, head throbbing. After the pain died down, they observed their surroundings. All of their classmates were in a big room together, but no sign of Maria or where the voice came from. “My blocks fell over… All you have to do is find them and put them back.” The voice continued “Good luck.” Good luck? Why would they need luck? All of the kids poured out of the room, but when Lapis took a step, a pair of hands grabbed them from behind, one over their mouth. “Oh no, you aren’t going anywhere.” The same voice whispered. The figure was holding a needle with a blue liquid inside of it and injected it into Lapis’s neck. The figure let go and the preteen fell to the ground shaking. “Don’t worry Blue, it will all be over soon…” -{End of Prologue}-
