Maplekit was born in a cold night of leaf-bare. Her brothers, Stormkit and Hawkkit, both died because of the cold, and Maplekit nearly died also. When she had become an apprentice a badger had attacked her patrol leaving her with two scars on her foreleg. Then when she became a warrior, Maplewhisker, she fell in love with Sandsky. After their leader died she was chosen instead of Echofur to be the leader. When she went to the moonstone to get her nine lives she asked starclan why she was chosen to become a leader and they told her a prophecy that only her old leader knew about, "When two of power will rise and save blood, The Echo of a Maple leaf will fall into the depths." and then told Echofur about it.
