I almost feel sorry for him... Firestar is watching two kits, Deerkit and Plumkit, play. But in it, he sees his memories, of two kits he failed to protect, Tansykit and Briarkit, in the exact same way. Deeper in his memories, he recalls how he played with his brother Oakshine. However, his lonliness in life led him to start to get too competitive and tried to rule over his brother. He envied his other brother Foxleap for being able to climb trees, because he couldn't because of his short tail. Rather than being truly evil, his sadness is what drove him to his actions.
