Art process. .character bio. - - - [ click / tap ] Scratch ruined the quality big time woah Disclaimer : don’t copy my style completely! Use this as a guide to help your own UNIQUE art. I am always open for constructive critism! - - - ART PROCESS [ i use procreate and ibispaint x in this drawing ] . Sketch - I use the 6b brush in procreate, typically using thick lines . Lineart - brush depends, I used 6b brush on this except I used a thinner size - I add more detailes and stuff I forgot in sketch - I never use black for lineart . Coloring - I use the lasso fill tool to fill in the ENTIRE lineart as the skin. I call it the base. Then I make another layer, clip it to the base, and color the clothes - repeat for the hair, accessories, face, etc. . Shading - shading really makes a difference! I typically make a new layer and clip it to the layer I want to shade, changing the layer mode to ‘multiply’. . Hair loose strands - I use the lasso fill tool to make loose hair strands (Opt.) . Lighting - I use a custom brush to add light. - to add light, make a new layer and set the blending mode to ‘add’, ‘soft light’, or ‘luminosity’ I used ‘add’ in this illustration - note - natural light will only come from one direction : the sun. Ofc if you have more than one artificial light, the light will come from different directions .Color editing - using the ‘curve’ tool, I edit the colors to my liking. I used more blue and green in the editing, so it gives the art, which has a warm color scheme, a vintage and color feel. I also edited the ‘gamma’, which in short words, is the lighting. It’s quite complicated and I don’t know a lot about it. .Blur the parts that aren’t important - in procreate, there is this effect called ‘Gaussian blur’. You can shift it into ‘pencil’ mode to only blur the parts you color. Since you can only do that with an Apple Pencil (and I use my finger), I export the drawing into ibispaint x which has a blur brush. - I blur the parts that don’t need a lot of attention. This will slightly shift the viewers eyes into the important part. - background . I don’t typically put effor t into a background.
