Instructions

The Stakrenz was a Jarrodian crossbow that originated from the 1st century BC, it was unique for being a repeating crossbow based off of the designs from eastern weaponsmiths. This was caused by the ancient Stake trading route which connected the eastern and western worlds together, allowing them to trade and interchange different inventions. The Stakrenz worked by using a priming lever which controlled the movement of the bowstring. When it was pulled back, it cycled an arrow into position and fired it off immeditately in one action by the lever, which allowed it to sustain fire until reloading. It was fed by a 8 bolt gravity magazine ontop of the bowstring, which dropped arrows into place when the lever was moved. The Stakrenz was a reliable weapon, but lacked good range even with a fire rate superior to that of contemporary bows. It however saw purpose as a swivel-mounted heavy repeating crossbow that was placed on the deck of ships to rain fire on the enemy crew during boarding attacks. These were known as Brett-stakrenz crossbows, they were much larger, faster firing and possessed a huge magazine that could usually hold up to 50 bolts. They were uncommonly used as infantry weapons, only by certain Jarrodian states, and instead used heavily as swivel-mounted arrow artillery in the form of the Brett-stakrenz. They were used up until the 1200s, which saw them phased out by the arbalest.
