India's independence (from the British Empire) was declared on August 15th, 1947. Since it's the 75th anniversary of India's independence, people there are doing big celebrations! Many buildings, bridges, and monuments are brightly lit orange, white, green, and there is an initiative called "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav," to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence and the glorious history of it's people, culture and achievements.
