1992 Mercedes-Benz 500E Arguably one of the most iconic W124 models, the 500E wasn't just luxurious, it was also fast. Built in a collaboration with Porsche, the 500E gained a redesigned chassis to to fit the 5.0 liter V8 used in the SL into it, along with the necessary changes on the suspension system and drivetrain. Funnily enough, the car bodies didn't fit through Mercedes' assembly line due to the wider fenders, so the bodies, parts, and chassis were delivered to Porsche's assembly line, which was underutilized at the time.
